IMHO, it doesnt matter how many bags you own, as long as you can afford to buy one, then go -- thats if you are a bag collector.

Pero kung hindi naman, buy bags according to which you can maximize the use of, consider the size, versatility ng color and style and comfort pag bitbit mo.
Pero one important thing you have to consider is : Make sure you know how to maintain (cleaning before storing) and use your bags properly (dont overload your bag since it will lose its shape even with base shapers) especially if you are into designer ones, para mamaximize mo its value.
Im guilty of overloading bags before, but nung nakita ko how fast my first designer bag deteriorated, ayun, I started to be extra careful when using my bags, even sa storage, meron pa kaming checklist and scheduling ng pag-check and linis sa kanila.
I also dont buy handbags anymore, if ever I buy those, I make sure theyre the ones that come with shoulder straps, for convenience nalang, kasi its easier to carry shoulder bags than handbags especially when you would go malling, medyo inconvenient na automatic nang parang disabled yung isang arm/hand mo, medyo nakaka-ngawit rin isabit sa arm especially pag medyo heavy na.
