may alaga akong cockatiel (white na may yellow) bigay ni bf last 2008 ata. inakay pa sya galing sa aviary ng nagsusupply sa kanila ng mga birds. as in wala pa syang balahibo nung napunta sa akin, ni-hand fed ko sya for almost 1 month with a very tiny syringe ng egg food (nabibili sa SERA). ayun ang laki na nya at ang kapal na ng feathers nya tapos ang bait na nya sa akin kasi ako ang nagpapakain sa kanya. one time lang nihabilin ko sya kina bf, ang lintis na mini pincher kinagat sa pakpak at hinila ang pakpak (nasa cage ang bird), ayun nasugatan sya sa pakpak. ang birds daw kasi pag nasugatan sobrang mahina sila. after 2 days nag bye bye na sya. diko maimagine na makabuhay ako ng bird tapos kainis namatay lang din kasi di ni bf nipatong sa mataas yung cage nya. hayyyyy. i miss chirdie my bird.

^ sad story... considering taming of bird is not easy, given the fact that you will spend time feeding and training them on their early weeks or months.

^^^ Sis, birds have their own instinct to know if the eggs that they are brooding are fertile. If they noticed that the eggs that they brood is infertile that's the time they set it aside and sometimes eat them or dropped outside the nest box.

In order for a African Lovebirds to breed they should have properly nourished (food, vitamins and minerals), spacious cage and nest box, nice nesting materials and not disturbed by cats or rats.

thanks sis. try ko magcheck ng ibang feeds baka nga may kulang sa food nila. may chance ba na maka hatch ng egg ang bird na hulog ng hulog ng egg? almost one-year-old na rin sila so first time nila this year mangitlog.

^ hehe... Bro po ako.

Yes, there's still hope for your birds as long as you give them proper food, vitamins, good nesting materials and away from disturbance. Also take note the gender of your pets, it should be a sure male and female.

been babysittng godzilla in feathers, shes a 5 y old very spoiled cape parrot who has more meals prepared for her  than some of us can enjoy.  after spending 8hrs or more with her and 3wks of babysitting has paid off...we finally bonded. now i can easily have her  step up, play peakaboo with and she lets me scratch her head. having a bird love and trust you i a very rewarding thrill. theres only 3 of us who can hane her... and i have yet to win the heart of my budgie boy  whos so irritable from molting.

i want sana a pineapple conure pero maingay lang even a cockatiel pero too much rauckus i think if you have a small place to house them plus my littl godzila might attack them pa. wouldnt also risk having a cockatoo who might end up pluckng in the end. sabi nga its better to have a nail go through your hand than have a cockatoo. high maintenance kasi pero super ganda naman. hay my frustration.

im notfamiliar with thstores there pero you can make your own if you cant find any. like a ball of paper yarn or string na nate  mga nylon typ ones andake knots in them. you can also string some other things wih it just make sure its not dyed or printed on. kung dyed ateast food coloring dapat. pwde rin unvarnished wooden pieces or toys..and plastic balls na hallow na mesh type will be fun for them. small mirrors rin will be good if itsnot a solo bird. maybe the baby dept. has small toys suitable for them.

finally! there's a new post for Feathered Friends topic.

hi there, sorry for the late reply. Try to use the Candle Method, with this we can check if the eggs are all infertile or some of them might be fertile but not successfully hatched, this will also confirm the gender of your birds.

Candle Method

1. Get a flash light (much better if its a LED flash light. You can use the LED light of lighters that can be seen anywhere)

2. Hold each egg, one at a time, against the flash light

3. Much better if the lights are dimmed so that you can check the state of each egg.

note: clear eggs are those infertile eggs while eggs with spots and blood vessels are fertile eggs.

considerations:

* if all eggs are clear there's a big probability that they are both female. Check the number of eggs sometime its more than regular number which is 6 eggs. You can remove the eggs because there is no way that these will be hatched

* if at least one of the eggs is fertile it means that your birds are male and female but they did not successfully hatched their eggs. If this is the case try to give them another chance to produce, maybe they are not matured enough to take care of their eggs. (consider them newbie)

* Do the candling method on eggs with age 4 days or more starting from the day it was laid.

* Eggs age more than 25 days can also be considered bugok or no chances of hatching.

Good Luck and Happy Birding !!!

Don't forget to update us ;)
