sounds like conjunctivitis/pink eye/sore eyes.
could be viral or bacterial. best to have your baby seen by a doctor.

Nung newborn baby ko nagmuta din sya. The maternal and child health nurse suggested to just clean it with breastmilk o [textspeak!] pinalamig na chamonile tea. It worked for my baby. Natural way muna pero if it persists, it's always best to consult your doctor.

My 2 month old baby girl experienced this. Her pedia cited 3 possible causes: 1. blocked tear duct; 2. yung eyelashes nakapasok pa causing her to tear up; 3. infection.

For blocked tear duct, she asked us to massage the inner corner of her eye.

Sa eyelashes - wala.. will just have to wait.

Is the discharge clear or yellow? If its yellow there's infection, bacteria's present, ask your pedia for an eye ointment.

nung newborn si baby, more than a month din siyang nagmumuta.. when i asked her pedia about it, sabi sakin, it had to do with the foods i eat, I was practicing ge-lai wherein lahat ng foods ko puro mga black chicken, pigeon, lapu-lapu na may mga chinese herbs, sesame oil, ginger to restore yung init na nawala sa body ko... since i breastfed my baby back then, nata-transfer ko kay baby yun, yun daw ang cause kaya nagmumuta si baby... after my ge-lai which is a month after i gave birth, I stopped eating those foods na din, so ayun unti-unti din nawala ang muta ni baby

this just happened to my son which started last saturday. at first i just ignored it but at the end of the day i noticed na grabe yung pagmumuta. i dropped breastmilk on his eye and naglessen naman. but di ako nakatiis so pinatingin ko sa pedia and sabi baka nairritate lang daw and he was prescribe some eye drops :)
Stalker much?

Hi redpill. :)

I wipe with cotton ball with lukewarm water. Then pag bath time, panghilamos nya breastmilk, then erythromycin ointment 2x a day as per pedia's advice.

AFAIK normal lang ang pagmumuta ng newborn, kasi ganyan din baby ko before, ang explanation sakin ni pedia is kasi daw close pa yun tear ducts nila and patubo ang pilik mata ni baby kaya nagmumuta, clean it lang with cotton dip in distilled water. mawawala din naman daw ang pagmumuta. :)

galing na kami sa pedia ni baby. wait daw until one yr old as long as walang infection common daw at harmless ang pagmumuta. but kung may infection at pabalik balik then kailangan na gamutin. im glad wala naman infection yung kay baby
