thanks! now i have an idea.  sis minnie99, sana ganyan din sa PE namin. lol. eh swimming lessons lang talaga PE namin nung college eh!  :P

yeah, i thought those 2-4k dive packages offered at resorts can get you certified na. hahaha. ambisyosa lang?  ;D  [textspeak!] i think i'll start with those fun dives first just to try the experience. if it goes well, then that's the time i will think about saving for classes since i'm on a budget constraint here. kasi nga, everywhere i want to travel in the phils, be it in bohol, boracay, palawan, moalboal, it's so enticing to dive. looking at pics pa lang, i'm amazed na. there's a whole new world pala underwater, and beauty is not limited to what we only see on land.  ;D

help!!! i'm new to this thread... i don't know where else to ask this question. since this is a thread for scuba divers, i'm sure you are familiar with snorkeling gears...

where can i buy a snorkeling gear and how much? yung medyo affordable sana, hindi kailangang sobrang high-end. kasi we're going to Palawan. eh maarte ang mommy ko, ayaw niya mag-rent lang ng snorkeling gear, yuckie daw. so i'm considering buying.

please, i really need help..

Meron ang Speedo. Nagtingin ako nito dati, I'm just not sure how much. I think nasa 3k siya? The set consists of goggles/snorkel, and fins

^thanks for the reply, sis. i checked Speedo's website, meron silang mask and snorkel lang, mas mura, nasa 1K. super important ba ang fins? kasi ang pinakamura nang mask-snorkel-fin set ay P2,400 (accdg to website). necessity ba ang fins sa basic snorkeling lang sa Palawan? hehe.

also, sabi ng kuya ko, pag di daw masyadong nagagamit, nasisira daw ang goma ng goggles. eh yung snorkeling set, syempre tuwing may beach getaway lang namin magagamit (say, once a year). what is the proper way to store/keep it to maintain its quality?

Ay oo nga, haha. Hindi necessary ang fins unless gusto mo sumisid talaga :D But if snorkeling lang talaga I guess okay na mask+snorkel.

Oo sis, masisira nga yun. Baka pwede babad sa tubig occasionally? Lol, I don't know, sorry, di kasi ako nakabili nun and lagi lang rent. Ang nabasa ko lang is to just rinse them with cold water (do not rub the inside) tapos let dry. But yung long-term, care wala...

^alam mo yun nga naisip ko for long-term care, "babad sa tubig occasionally", hehe. ;D kasi kung masisira siya pag hindi palaging ginagamit, eh di might as well, ibabad in water once in two months or so, hahaha!

if anybody else knows how to care for a snorkeling set in the long-term, pa-share naman. :)

sis meimei, try to check the mask and snorkel sa aquamundo. if i'm not mistaken around 700php each yun. i bought mine 3yrs ago. matibay sya pati hindi naglealeak. yung mask na binili ko is for scuba diving pero pwede mo rin gamitin for snorkeling.

^hi sis! i checked their website, they only have two branches:

MAIN OFFICE:
Vernida I Bldg.,
120 Amorsolo St. Legaspi Village,
Makati City, Philippines 1229

MANILA BRANCH:
Robelle Mansion, 877 J.P. Rizal St
Makati City, Philippines 1210

yes, as far as i know yan lang ang branches nila. in the future, if diving equipment naman hinahanap mo, i would recommend it. aquamundo din ang wetsuit ko and fins.

My hubby and i tried dsd first before undergoing open water diver certification, at least to gauge if we want to pursue diving as a hobby.  Our dsd experience went very well that we decided to get certified. Mabait ang dive masters and dive instructor namin.  Now, we will be undergoing advanced open water certification naman.

We went to Camiguin last week and nag pa book for an open water fun dive sa Caves Dives Resort. Ok naman yung dive instructor, certified by PADI sila. For 2300, included na dun ang gears and lessons (wala syang food, pero ok lang since super excited kami for the dive  ;D)

Thankful ako sa instructor namin dahil sobrang patient sya since medyo nahirapan kami i-master yung mask cleaning  :D . Then after an hour, pinayagan na kaming mag proceed.

Hi I'm interested to Scuba Dive. As in no experience, zero knowledge ako.

Any tips or suggestions how to start? Like what school and gadgets I should have? I live in Metro Manila, so anywhere near.

Thanks in advance!

Sa QC I went to Dive Republic :)

Usually naman ipapa rent ka ng equipment. I suggest find a school and im sure they can answer all your questions (usually these schools have dive shops so if you want to buy gears, dun na din :D

Tried the Discover Scuba Diving lesson at Portulano yesterday, just to see if kayanin ko ang diving. The instructor (and the owner of the resort, as well) was Sir Arnel Sevilla, and super hands down on how he taught us the basics in diving. At first medyo kinakabahan pa ko, but nung time na for us to dive sa open water, all my anxieties was replaced by amazement. Sobrang ganda lang underwater. It feels so serene, and I was really in awe the whole time na hindi ko namalayan umabot na kami sa 30ft. And nakakaita pa kami ng hawksbill turtle! Hehe.

I will definitely pursue the OW certification within this year, para bago ako magbohol, PADI certified na ko. :)
