RULES AND REGULATIONS - D. Advertising and Soliciting
« on: February 09, 2010, 12:41:57 AM »
D.   Advertising and Soliciting

Advertising refers to the unsolicited promotion of services and/or products. Soliciting refers to advertisements that afford the member material value from the purchase of said services or products. Posts will be considered advertising or soliciting if they are not directly related to the content of the thread they are posted in. The same post should also not be copy/pasted across different threads.

The rules pertaining to advertising in the GIRLTalk forum are as follows:

       (1)   Allowed Advertisements

Forum members are allowed to include advertisements in posts if they:
        a.   Are not solicitations (i.e., if they recommend a product or service, but do not materially benefit from other members purchases).
        b.   Do not cut-and-paste a large amount of content from outside advertisements or testimony.
        c.   Do not recur within a thread unless explicitly requested after the first instance.
        d.   Do not encourage members to visit sites or communities in direct competition or conflict with any Summit Media website or magazine.

        (2)   Allowed Solicitations

Forum members are allowed to include solicitations in posts if they:
        a.   Are authorized to post in the For Sale forum.
        b.   Are part of a genuine reply, which includes content from the poster relating to other posts in the thread.
        c.   Do not recur within a thread unless explicitly requested after the first instance.
        d.   Do not encourage members to visit sites or communities in direct competition or conflict with any Summit Media website or magazine.

        (3)   Offending Advertisements and Solicitations

Forum members are not allowed to:
        a.   Post unsolicited advertisements as replies or new threads (except in the For Sale forum). This is a Category 3 offense.
        b.   Repost advertisements or solicitations in a thread unless the information therein is explicitly requested. This is a Category 3 offense.
        c.   Post cut-and-paste solicitations or advertisements as replies or new threads (except in the For Sale forum). This is a Category 4 offense.
        d.   Post more than one advertisement per product or service in the For Sale forum. This is a Category 4 offense.
        e.   Post links routing to or encourage members to visit websites or online communities that are in direct conflict or competition with the GirlTalk forums, FemaleNetwork.com site, or any Summit Media website or magazine. This is a Category 4 offense.

        (4)   Guidelines for the For Sale Forum

The For Sale forum provides a venue within GIRLTalk for posting advertisements for products and services. The following guidelines are unique to the For Sale boards:

         a.   Only Registered Sellers are allowed to start threads. It is the Registered Sellers’ prerogative to post their contact information, bearing in mind the guidelines for Privacy and Security as noted above.
         b.   Replies are disabled for this board. Inquiries should be done directly via private message or through any posted contact information, if available.
         c.   Members may read and post reviews and feedback about the Registered Sellers in the Seller Reviews child board. Each Registered Seller will have a corresponding thread in the board.
         d.   The For Sale boards will be purged every Wednesday. Registered Sellers can repost items that have not yet been sold. Sold items should be marked as such before Wednesday and should not be reposted after the purging.
        e.   Female Network reserves the right to delete offensive or inappropriate items and services for sale.
        f.      Registered sellers are not in any way vetted by Female Network; they merely apply for the status and are awarded such if the products and services they are offering are not offensive, inappropriate, or in conflict of interest with any Summit Media site or publication.

The Female Network, GIRLTalk, and ShopCrazy staff and management cannot in any way be held responsible for any of the transactions conducted on the FN Marketplace. Sellers who make posts on the FN Marketplace are not endorsed by or tracked by the administration and management.

Buyers and sellers alike face various risks when transacting in an online environment. We strongly encourage you to practice due diligence and exercise caution when buying or selling anything online. Remember, buy and sell at your own risk.
