i miss the guinataang monggo that my lolo used to cook. the one with malagkit :P

Ang munggo naman namin, tinanggal na namin ang paggigisa, while its boiling and malambot na, we put onion, kamatis and garlic. after that, ilalagay na namin ang mga gulay, yes mga gulay! may okra, sitaw, ampalaya and kalabasa and of course yung dahon ng alugbati. masarap siya kasi matamis tamis because of kalabasa.

marami palang may favorite ng monggo as ulam dito sa GT :) personal fave ko din ang monggo and i liked it more kapag may chicharon toppings :)

comfort food ang ginisang monggo for me. gusto ko yung medyo malapot (hindi malabnaw yung sabaw), and with malunggay leaves. perfect with fried fish :)

Wow, ang daming recipes for monggo. Parehas kami di marunong ni hubby magluto ng monggo, I'll try this... ilang months na kami parehas nagccrave ng nito... Haha

Dito sa amin pagkatapos ilaga ang monggo nililigis or biniblender.
Tapos gisa sa onion,garlic,tinapa,pork(pag pork sa una,pinagmamantika)/shrimp,tomato,patis.
Then yung monggo.
Pag nagisa na yung monggo sasabawan and titimplahan.
Pag kulo lalagyan ng malunggay or dahon ng ampalaya at chicharon.

Pinaka the best na kapartner ng ginisang monggo is paksiw na isda.

Paborito ko ang monggo. . .
Ginisang monggo, ginataang monggo(yung may malagkit rice),hopiang monggo,monggo bread,etc. :D

fave to ni hubby! :) nilalagyan ko ng chicharon and mas madalas na dahon ng ampalaya nilalagay ko kesa sa malunggay, mas type ko lasa hehe. ang laging kapartner nito kapag nagluto ako is either fried chicken or pan fried pork chops.. nakakagutom! ;D

1.pakuluan ang monggo po for 1.5 hrs make sure water is mga 2 inches ang dami above sa monggo at make sure din po na mejo malaki ang kaserola.. pag ang monggo nagseparate na ang balat eh aangat po yan  tatapon sabaw kaya kelangan din po chinechek at halo para pantay lambot every 15 mins. kung umoonti tubig dagdag lang po. after an hour, kapag meron nang umiibabaw na balat scrape it slowly, halo then let it boil again.. another batch of balat ang aangat.scrape again until tingin mo wala na..by that time, mejo malapot na ang laman ng monggo at kulay brown napo ang sabaw.set it aside.

2. get another pan/kaserola-but since my tofu gagamitin preferred ang non stick po. put oil in pan just enough pra pangsaute mga 2 tbsp is ok, unahin po tofu until mejo brown na outside. Do not over saute/mix ang tosu para dipo madurog. make sure nalang its brownish muna per side before u iturn sa kabila, sunod po karne, saute till a little brownish, add po ang garlic and onions...gisa gisa then add tomatoes. Once mejo dina fresh ang tomato add alamang po....halo lang until medyo hindi na fresh yung alamang...once ok na..add yung monggo na sinet aside kanina..

mix it slowly..add water it you think kulang ang lapot po sa inyo.. wag naman gawing sinigang hehe...let it simmer, add GINISA mix po..pepper if you want..then add chicharon crushed it depende sa gusto mo na size if it tastes ok na for you add po ang dahon ng ampalaya.... its optional, ok lang wala....wiiiiiiiiii yum! yum!

Di ko pa na-try magluto ng monggo ng matagal. Not sure kung may difference sa lasa. Binababad kasi namin sa water minsan overnight para lumambot. Pero kung morning ibabad sa gabi pwede na rin lutuin. Reduced cooking time. Boil mga 15-20 mins lang luto na. Mas gusto kong sahog is hinimay na fried fish (galunggong). ;D

Yun lang pag nasobrahan sa babad nagmumukha ng taoge hehe.

Here's my version na fave ni hubby

1. Boil the Mung Beans hanggang malambot na, usually 2 takal lang sa amin kasi 2 lang kami lagi kumakain
2. On a separate pan, i-fry yung pangsahog na pork until golden brown at crispy na, set aside.
3. Use the same pan to saute onion, garlic and tomatoes.
4. add the hibe (small shrimps), and tinapa then ilagay na yung munggo.
5. simmer then add the pork. tapos patis and pepper to taste.
6. after magboil ulit, ilagay na ang dahon ng ampalaya and chicharon. voila!
