Does anyone have experience with getting a birth certificate from Taguig? Or expediting the NSO encoding process?

I'm giving birth in May 2012 St.Lukes Global and we need the NSO birth certificate asap. It takes up to 3 months but we can't wait that long.

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

@ryn11 - you the birth cert right away for what purpose? passport/visa application? if you really need the NSO copy it will take you 2-3mos or sometimes even longer..But if you only need the doc for passport/visa they honor even the certified true copy in NSO paper you can request it from cityhall that's what I was told before when i applied for my baby's passport/visa, they knew that it will take long for NSO to release it.

Hi mga sis, need your help po : yung sister ko and long time bf niya hindi pa married, she gave birth january this year. I was told na plan na nila magpa civil wedding soon, nakakuha na din sila ng copy ng birthcertificate ni baby from city hall, ang question is, di ba sa birthcertificate naka indicate dun ay illegitimate child si baby kasi hindi pa sila married at the time of birth, pano nila papapalitan yung illegitimate to legitimate? Akala kasi nila pag nagpa civil sila say for example by May or June this year, pag nag request sila ng nso copy eh automatic legitimate na yung nakalagay dun.

Ano po dapat nila gawin? Thanks in advance :)

^if hospital ang magaasikaso it will take atleast 2 weeks bago magkaroon ng copy ang munisipyo, pero depende din yan sa hospital, maybe you can ask the records of the hospital kung kailan sila nagpapasa sa munisipyo. Based on experience sa pangalawa ko, kami ang nag asikaso ng birth certificate nya, as in kami ang nagpasa sa munisipyo one day lang nakuha na namin yung certified true copy nya.
We are under the same sky… so then, for that day, silently and strongly

Hi mga sis,

I went through this thread and came up with this step by step procedure based on people's experiences. We'll try this when I give birth, because I really need an NSO copy of the birth certificate to get a citizenship form and temporary passport for my daughter (hubby is Canadian).

Good luck to those who need to go through this process! I'll post again if this works.

1. Get copy of birth certificate from hospital records, may take up to two weeks. (make sure all details are correct)
2.  Bring to the city hall to get a certified true copy.
3. Find out if civil registry or city hall can expedite sending the docs to NSO. (Prepare to pay a fee)
4. After one month, go to Archives of NSO – to hasten the digitizing of the document. Expect long lines and may need to pay a fee.

Thanks to anneG for the reply!

^ask first with the Canadian embassy if the nso birth certificate needs to be DFA authenticated (with certification and red ribbon). For my kids, we were required by my husband's embassy (different from the Canadian embassy), to submit a DFA authenticated birth certificate for birth registration and passport.

anyone here that changed the marital status of parents on their kid's birth certificate? When I gave birth, hindi pa kame kasal and just got married this November 2011. Anyone can help? Tsaka how much ang magagastos if ever. TIA!

Hi mga sis, same situation po.
I gave birth na di pa kami kasal ni Hubs but after a month we got married na.
You will need to file LEGITIMATION TO SUBSEQUENT MARRIAGE.

^after filling the Legitimation by subsequent marriage aling copy na ng birth certificate ang dapat lumabas twing kukuha ng nso copy? The first one carrying the mother's surname or the second one carrying the father's surname?

Tapos after 1 week na-received ulit ni ate, sa Philpost niya pinick up yung documents. ;)

After 6 months, nakakuha na ng NSO birth certificate yung bata, for passport purposes.
