Help! In search of the "perfect" used car
« on: October 17, 2009, 10:51:28 AM »
Pano nga ba malalaman kung binaha yung kotse? Help please.  I really need a car. Pero 2nd hand lang kaya ng budget. TIA!

**I edited the title para hindi lang sa signs of baha ang discussion. I need all the tips I can get.  Thanks again!

always bring a competent and seasoned mechanic kapag 2nd hand / reconditioned / surplus ang binibili

^^to answer your question, you will never know kung lumubog yung car sa baha.

you can only check the condition of the car whether it is still in good condition or hindi. pero yung history nya whether binaha siya or hindi, hindi po malalaman...

kahit yung history nya whether may major accident na sya, mahirap din malaman dito. unlike in the US, nasusulat...

i always see this advise when scouting for a used car...pero saan nga ba makaka kuha ng seasoned mechanic?

^^ if you dont have a mechanic, get recommendations from family and friends.

unlike in the US, nasusulat...

sana may carfax din dito sa phils. will greatly help buyers of 2nd hand units, lessen bad sellers, and prevent you from getting a lemon.

Ask around your area. It would really help if they have personally experienced that mechanic before and have good feedbacks on their work.

This is also our main concern, that is why we do not have the option of buying 2nd hand car, masakit sa ulo ang itirik ka in the middle of the road, lalo na sa makati, sobrang ang singil sa towing, grrr..

Best advise is to buy car sa friend talaga ang may ari, in this way alam mo ang history ng auto.

but since super sharp ang sense of smell ng friend ko (pinaglihi ata sa german shep hehe), naamoy nya yung baho ng baha... sabi ko nga baka after a few days of airing it out, mawala din yun. parang as good as pre-ondoy na yun uli... or pag binenta, may 1 year free supply of car scent.  ;D

Cause I'm happy...

So far, out of the 10 used cars we saw, isa lang yung ok saken. And...and....and....taga Pasig pa.  Wala akong kilalang mechanic so I just trust my intuition.  Haha. I know it's crazy.  Anyway, wala pa akong nabibili.

I need more input. Thanks to all who replied. :)

Siguro aside from bringing a mechanic, be more meticulous in checking yung mga singit singit ng kotse. Speaking from experience kase nalubog kotse namin eh hehe..
Whatever I want, I get. If I can't, I don't stop TRYING.

hmmm kung yung car eh mukhang ayos  na ayos, sobrang kintab, detailed na detailed edi much probably na may itinatagong baho yan in the past.

better buy a car sa kakilala mo talaga, family friend and the like.. at yung tipong di mukhang perfect masyado. ang logic  kasi jan, the more na mas perfect looking, the more na mas maraming nasira  before.  itatago lang ng previous owner ang mga nasira by making it look brand new. pero pag nabili mo na, dun mo maddiscover ang mga kapalpakan.  :D

For a car its age, alaga sya kasi minor lang talaga yung scratches ng body.  Yung makina malinis naman, no signs of oil leaks.

Wish me luck, girls.  Thanks to you all again!

Mitsubishi Lancer GLi na 1995.  Pero hindi rin natuloy.  Issue naman sa transfer of ownership. Hindi pa sila nakapag settle ng estate nung dad nya, so yun.  Balik ako sa paghahanap.

I think I should change the title of the thread, para hindi lang sya tungkol sa binahang kotse.

if you can postpone buying for at least 3 months, better...unless you are sure na hindi talaga nabaha yung car. My friends na nakatira sa makati and ortigas area, puro nabaha ang cars nila.
I love you sweetie.... You are my strength and my inspiration.
