UP Vet Med
« on: October 07, 2012, 10:31:58 am »
Hi mga sis! I would just like to know who here brings their babies to UP Vet Med hospital (Diliman)? I'm interested in bringing my babies there na lang instead of the vet just a few streets away... Mas mura yata dito kasi sa UP? Though kasi they sell the meds/vaccines separately, parang bahala ka bumili, I'm not even sure if they have it in their store there. Yun yung dating sakin when my friend explained. Parang you just have to pay 150 for the first time you bring your pet, then parang purely meds/lab tests/vaccines na lang babayaran mo thereafter?

Can somebody clarify this? Syempre, our current vet is much more accessible and close naman na namin yung vets there, but UP still is only at most 10 minutes away from us. So if mas makakatipid dun, I'd rather go there.

I'm particularly interested in:
1. deworming for a 10kg (or heavier) puppy
2. 5-in-1 vaccines

TIA!

hi sis. diliman area din kami pero never ko pa natry ang vet hospital nila. may nagsabi kasi sakin na ang titingin daw sa dogs dun ay yung vet students kaya takot ako baka magkamali sa diagnosis. pero yung boy namin dun nagpabakuna ng puppy nya, parang di naman nagkakalayo yung price kasi ang binayad ata nya is 500. iniisip ko baka 350 sa vaccines then yung 150 for the initial fee. tanungin ko sya ulit pag nagkita kami.

yung sa deworming naman, okay lang kahit ikaw na magdeworm. alamin mo lang ang weight nila tapos bili ka ng dewormer. mahal kasi pag vet ang gumawa, nasa 150 ata ang fee per 10kg. check mo to and the next page, napagusapan namin dyan yung deworming:

Ooohhh oo nga! Baka nga ganun sis, 350 + 150. Pero mukhang may regular clients naman sila...

I think nga din students to... Mali nga diagnosis nung unang punta namin dun nung naghihingalo ang 2-week-old Bonbon namin.

Anyway, mukhang for tests, okay dito kasi mas mura... What do you think?

Right now 250 deworm nila at that weight eh. :|

I love up vet. My aunt is a regular client dun niya pdinadala yun dog niya for many years na.

5in1 is 350 yata or cheaper pa

Oh, that's great! I think for tests mas okay na nga dun... May cremation din sila dun (though I hope I dont have to avail of that service yet...)

Thank God i have no need to go to a vet right now aside from their scheduled shots... So baka dun muna ako sa vet namin... I hope there won't come a day na kailangan ko dalhin sa vet hospital.

Anyway thanks mga sis! It's good to hear that UP vet med is a place I can trust :)

We've been bringing our pets to the UP Vet Med for years now. Your pet is going to be seen by a resident in training (a licensed vet) or an intern (vet student) or both, but they always have their charts/cases checked by a consultant (senior vet) before they sign them out. However the consultant rarely sees your pet, unless warranted. On follow up, your pet will most likely be seen by a different vet/intern also, unlike in private clinic, so there's a little problem with the continuity of care.

The last time I brought a pet there (June of this year) I think they'd already privatized some labs. CBCs cost 400 pesos(!) already. I'm not so sure about this, pero iba kasi yung OR na binigay sa akin for the blood labs at iba yung for consultation fee and xray fee, na nasa official OR ng UP. This hasn't happened before, isa lang ang OR na binibigay, and mura lang ang CBC dati, mga 50 lang. Their xrays (chest) still cost the usual 350 though. But other labs besides CBC, like blood chemistry, have been privatized too, and cost as much if not higher than in the private labs. (I was going to write someone about it, because really, 400 pesos for a CBC is too much, but I kept on putting it off. ;P)

Otherwise the management of cases there is always competent. It's UP, what can I say. They're the biggest vet training center in the country I think, and they definitely see all sorts of cases so gamay na gamay na nila ang mga cases. However I notice they're not as strict with infection control because I've never seen them wipe down their exam tables with disinfectant after each patient. And you have to see their sinks; they don't have soaps or detergent there, or alcohol even. I just hope the clinicians actually disinfect their hands before they see a new patient. But one can't really say. Wala rin silang separate area for infectious cases kaya nakakatakot baka mahawa ang pet. But in my experience, wala namang nahawahan sa pets namin. Medyo scary pa rin, pero gusto ko kasi UP people ang tumingin sa pets ko.

Hi, regular client ako ng UP Vet Med.
I usually go there on Mondays kc wala masyadong clients as well as puro Senior vets ang mga nakaduty. :D

Mukha naman palang okay dito :D Magkano kaya neutering dito? I'm thinking of getting my boys neutered. They are big dogs, after all. Ayoko ma-hassle sa mga pagkalalaki nila. Lol. And we have 2 female dogs, so I don't want to put up with the howling every time they're in heat. :|
