Here are my tips for those who will be having their lap: (speaking as a nurse and as previous patient)
When I found out that I have an ectopic pregnancy, I knew that it will be removed surgically and wala akong choice. and of course i can imagine lahat ng ikakabit sa katawan ko when I will be in the operating room. Actually sis, [textspeak!]
nman talgang taong magiging prepared because when you're in the OR table, you will never know what's gonna happen-in terms of your body's reaction and the outcome of the surgery.
Here are my preparations before the surgery: (few days) :-)
To prevent pneumonia post op and to strengthen lung muscles:
1. Coughing exercises
2. Deep breathing exercises
During post op, the pain that you will probably experience will be like colic pain because of the CO2 gas that will be injected in your abdomen to see well the organs. Well siguro it will depend on the pain tolerance of the patient. What I did when I was transferred to the room-awake na ako dito. you will no be transferred back to your room pag di ka hehe
Pagdating sa room 4pm without urinary catheter na ha:
1. Elevate the head of the bed para makaupo (2 hours)
2. Ambulate-meaning tumayo na ako. Palakad lakad ng konti. wala akong choice kasi kelangan makaihi ako ng 10pm or else lalagyan ulit ako ng catheter. this is applicable to all OR patients.
3. The next day, wala na akong swero. oral meds na ako. Then pa walk walk na. mas mabilis ko na fart yung CO2 mas less yung pain. this time ambulatory nako. Hindi pwde na hindi mag ambulate or else i will develop complications. nag bowel movement na din ako.
Before ako na discharge, my OB visit me and change my wound dressing personally and nagbgay din ng instructions.
Advise ko lang sa inyo mga sisses:
We have different types of body and the way we respond sa operation hindi parepareho. I was under general anesthesia-as in deep sleep ka but after it lapse- i did not experience any vomiting naman. Pag lap daw talgang GA. :-)
Sis after your surgery if kaya nyo na maglkad lakad, do it by all mean kasi it will really help you recover fast. Eat fruits and meat for faster wound healing. Drink lots of fluids too.
Four days post op: nakakatravel na ako from las pinas to hehe. I need kasi to go back for my practicum in PGH.mabilis ang recovery talaga. Siguro dahil din alam ko ang mga gagawin after.
Good luck sa inyo mga sisses! Pray lang before the surgery. Nkakanerbyos din ha, kahit nurse ako? grabe ang hirap maging patient!
ohh btw: for the skin test para sa mga medicines to know if allergic kayo, very painful talaga sya. Kaya make sure you tell the nurses, one shot lang. hinga lang ng malalim.hehehhe.
God bless you all!
