« on: September 29, 2008, 03:00:34 pm »
What bags/designer bags do you use and what can you recommend?  I am planning to buy one but I am still researching.  I am looking for a durable one and not so common when it comes to the appearance.

kayo, please share naman your choice(s) and why do you like them?

I USE the following:   Hermes Birkins (32 & 35); Kellys (32 only) and
                                       Lindys (34 only)
Chanel  -  2.55  small to extra jumbo sized -- but
I do not recommend the metallics nor
                                           fabrics
                             Balenciaga --  Part-Time & Work w/ giant h/ware
Goyard - Croisiere & Fidji only
                             LV  -  Keep-all, Speedy 35 Epi + Watercolor;
Hampstead;  Trevi; etc etc. etc. -- you will
will always have something from this
                                      brand your heart desires  :)
Tod's -- have 1 yellow Media tote bag
Gucci -- hobo snakeskin;  several brown monograms
                                         bought in Florence
Rabeanco -- the ultimate "bugbog" bags -- the perfect
schlepping bag -- I have used a purple one
as a bag and a pillow at the same time.  :)
Super unique as diaper/baby bags too!

I go for the following luxury designer bags:

Bottega Veneta - softest intreciatto / cervo woven leather; clean lines; CLASSIC!  You can use your BV bags until you get old; even the BV bags in metallic leather look classic and wearable for years to come.  Toned-down and only labelled inside.

Balenciaga - buttery-softest goat / lamb skin leather I've ever seen and felt; finely distressed leather giving the slouchy and ultra chic look; I fell in love with the Giant Midday and the Lune.

Louis Vuitton - only because I found a size and style that suited my taste in the Galliera GM; I prefer low-key labels (unlike the LV monograms) but I like oversized bags (so a GM would pass).  Although the LV monogram seems to be over-exposed, there's no doubt LV is still the most well-known among the luxury designer handbag brands available in the Philippines, which also makes it the most commonly seen in public places (and the most "imitated" / "replicated" at that).  One time, I went to the Bottega Veneta, Balenciaga, Gucci, and Prada boutiques at Greenbelt and saw very few shoppers inside.  Then, I also went to the LV boutique and boy, was it full of shoppers!

Gucci - because it's only in Gucci where I found a bag made of python in natural color which I had been looking for (for a long, long time) to match my python shoes.

Chanel - classic but glamorous flap bags; not big enough for my criterion, though.  I decided to get a Chanel bag to be used for more "formal" occasions, a welcome change from my day-to-day oversized hobos.

Hermes - hand-built by highly experienced craftsmen; highly covetable; can be considered as an investment because the value is said to appreciate.  I don't have a Hermes bag yet but I promised myself I'm going to get a Hermes Birkin real soon!  I hope I can easily find one and won't have to be on the waitlist.

Chanel- medallion, flaps, mini-tote;  I like Chanel- classic and versatile designs especially the flaps- can be worn in any outfit  (jeans, shorts, dress etc.)
Gucci shoppers tote- my super sulit laspag bag, very lightweight, can carry a lot, perfect for shopping in bazaars.
LV- I used to be a lover, but I see them everywhere nowadays.  I suggest go for the not so popular designs na lang if you'd really want one.
Christian Dior-  I use it as substitute for my LVs as everyday bag.
