To understand this question is to read the bible. See the stories of Joseph the dreamer, Joab, King David and who else but JESUS CHRIST.

Remember this-As long as we believe in Him everything has its purpose.

When we are too happy and contented, we often forget him. Sadness brings us closer to him ..leading ourselves back to Him. Making us realize that we forget the most important nourishment-spritual nourishment.

Right now, I feel lost.  May mga nangyaring hindi maganda and naging malaking blow sa akin.  Yung mga nangyari e out of my control.  Kaya iniisip ko na lang, God led me to this kasi may gusto Siyang sabihin or ituro sa akin.  Or maybe merong kapalit yung nawala.  I still believe na may reason lahat ng mga nangyayari sa buhay.  I may be in pain now, but surely, alam ko something better is in store for me.

I can say that our greatest lessons come out of pain, God uses them to fulfill all his purposes in our life, like Problems force you to focus on God, draw you closer to others in fellowship, build a Christlike character, provide us a ministry and give us a testimony. I think every problem is a purpose driven. and i believe that everything happens for a reason, just trust believe and have faith in God everything will be ok. :)
Jeremiah 29:11 says, " 'For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the LORD, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.' "

God will never abandon you.

asides from the sins we commit, the reason we experience pain is because we are still in this world... life in this world is not perfect, pag nasa 'Bayang Banal' na tayo, or kapiling ni God, wala ng pain, wala ng pagluha, sakit, pagdadalamhati at pagtitiis. Perfect na pamumuhay na talaga. :)
Life for me now is Eat, Pray, LOVE!

it develop our character and lead us to serious self-examination.it bring us closer to God and teach us to trust God in new ways.saka we can never learn to be brave and strong if the only thing in this world is happiness.

He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver; he will purify the Levites and refine them like gold and silver. Then the LORD will have men who will bring offerings in righteousness. - Malachi 3:3

Malachi 3:3 says: 'He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver.'
This verse puzzled some women in a Bible study and they wondered what this statement meant about the character and nature of God .
One of the women offered to find out the process of refining silver and get back to the group at their next Bible Study.
That week, the woman called a silversmith and made an appointment to watch him at work. She didn't mention anything about the reason for her interest beyond her curiosity about the process of refining Silver.
As she watched the silversmith, he held a piece of silver over the fire and let it heat up. He explained that in refining silver, one needed to hold the silver in the middle of the fire where the flames were hottest as to burn away all the impurities.
The woman thought about God holding us in such a hot spot; then she thought again about the verse that says: ' He sits as a refiner and purifier of silver.'
She asked the silversmith if it was true that he had to sit there in front of the fire the whole time.
The man answered that yes, he not only had to sit there holding the silver, but he had to keep his eyes on the silver the entire time it was in the fire. If the silver was left a moment too long in the flames, it would be destroyed.
The woman was silent for a moment. Then she asked the silversmith, 'How do you know when the silver is fully refined?'
He smiled at her and answered, ' Oh, that's easy -- when I see my image in it.'

If there will be no pain, then you will never appreciate the beauty of everything. Come to think of it, isn't it during those times that we feel so vulnerable, that we feel like a little child seeking for someone to help us? it makes us feel that we own nothing, and we feel humble. It is when we feel His touch and loving arms. Look how we cannot see the stars if everything is well-lighted, so sometimes we have to see the darkness to appreciate how beautiful stars can be...
I just hope it makes sense....

^I agree with you sis, and also God allows pain to remind us that our home is not in this world, that our real life begins in the afterlife, in Heaven.

He wishes for us to long for that place. And pain has a way of keeping our hope there, pain allow us to grow deeper and will strengthen our faith to him,  This is a good thing, for Heaven promises more wonderful, beautiful things than those which are found here.

Earth is for deciding whether we will love one another as well as our Creator; Heaven is where our experience of life will find its fruition.
Jeremiah 29:11 says, " 'For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the LORD, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.' "

God will never abandon you.

have you read about "Footprints in the Sand" ?

Footprints in the Sand

One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord.
Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky.
In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand.
Sometimes there were two sets of footprints,
other times there were one set of footprints.

This bothered me because I noticed
that during the low periods of my life,
                             when I was suffering from
                         anguish, sorrow or defeat,
I could see only one set of footprints.

So I said to the Lord,
      "You promised me Lord,
         that if I followed you,
you would walk with me always.
But I have noticed that during
the most trying periods of my life
                                 there have only been one
set of footprints in the sand.
Why, when I needed you most,
you have not been there for me?"

                                 The Lord replied,
                          "The times when you have
seen only one set of footprints in the sand,
          is when I carried you."

                                                   Mary Stevenson

Life really is full of suffering and hardships, at times when we feel there is so much pain, we shall still thank Jesus as he is beside you, helping you out, to overcome the pain...to see the silver lining.

I believe in my heart that God allows us to experience pain for us to realize that there is something much better waiting for us...It is also one of His ways to remind us to turn back to Him...
Sometimes kasi pag pinipilit natin kay God yung gusto natin, he allows us to experience what we want para marealize natin na hindi dahil sa gusto natin mangyari yung mga bagay na yun eh magiging masaya na tayo...His plans will always be the best...I want to share with you my life verse...
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lod. "Plans to prosper you & not to harm you. Plans to give you hope & a future."-Jeremiah 29:11
Believe & trust God...something better is yet to come!

In my opinion, pain is caused by the wrong choices we make. What God wants is for us to live relatively good lives - that is, a life that is directed to Him. But, when we choose to take a different path, that's when we start feeling lost.

Matagal na ang post na to...but still I chose to quote this and share my thoughts

It was just recently that I realized the verses in 1st Thesalonians 5:18 that says "In everything give thanks for it is the will of God..." and "I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth." Psalm 34:1

No matter how difficult our lives, we should still be thankful and praise God in every situation.
"i love them that love me, and those that seek me early shall find me..." Proverbs

I super-agree with this. meaning, God is never the reason of our pain.  Remember that even faithful worshippers from Bible times experienced sufferings because of circumstances. And yes, "A man's folly wrecks his life." - Proverbs 19:3

pain makes us stronger, wiser and definitely a better person. without pain, we wouldn't know and appreciate what the real meaning of happiness and blessedness is :)
