Postcards from a Sagada Virgin (Part 1)

Filed under: Travels, Bloggers' Scrapbook — Emma Cerise @ 9:00 am

It’s a shame how many among us can boast a frequently stamped passport without ever having gone out of Luzon. (Boracay doesn’t count, okay. Especially during peak season. When it’s as if you’ve never even left Manila. Where it feels like a payday Saturday in Greenbelt. Only there’s sand.) Anyway, as I was saying, I, too, suffer from the malady of the aspiring “citizen of the world” who wouldn’t know the way to his own backyard.

Old Nook, New Discovery (Bag of Beans, Tagaytay)

Filed under: Travels, Bloggers' Scrapbook — Emma Cerise @ 7:00 pm

Around last week of June, a friend from Top Gear Philippines, Dinzo, called me to ride shotgun again in another test unit - this time for the up and coming Ford Focus. So, dragging EJ along, we went for an afternoon drive to Tagaytay, to Bag of Beans, in particular. As a Southern feeling-belle, I used to frequent this charming little nook. But over time, Tagaytay stops being “out of town” for a Southerner. A proper roadtrip for me had to be northbound. The last time I was in Bag of Beans, they hadn’t yet built the huge al fresco dining area they now have. All it was at the time was a small coffee shop. Coming back to it now was like going to an old friend’s home…after it’s been given the Queer Eye treatment.

Deep Breathely

Pardon my absence, but to quash my burnout blues, I sort of took a breather with my lovey-dove for a few days in his home state of San Francisco to stop and smell the flowers, not to mention…

Filed under: Travels, Bloggers' Scrapbook — Emma Cerise @ 6:04 pm

There are no doubt infinitely more things to do in this Eastern Visayas hotspot. But consider this a starter kit, good for a typical three-day, two-night stay. Fear not, grasshopper, this is only the beginning…

Best months to go are summer and October to around January, the rest of the year, if not wet, can have highly fickle weather.

Fashion Seen in New York

Filed under: Travels, Bloggers' Scrapbook — Donna Cuna-Pita @ 6:44 pm

Looking over US fashion mags, I’ve always wondered how they do it there, how they coordinate shoots, pick models, etc. Do they make plantsa clothes like I do at shoots? Or do they have a special ironing-girl to do that? Do they also manually go from store to store to pull-out items or do they have it conveniently sent to them? I had the chance to find the answers to my questions about three years ago when I luckily received training from the Cosmopolitan head office in the big NY. Part of my training was to watch a Harper’s Bazaar fashion ed shoot (they’re our sister mag at Hearst), and boy was I excited! Imagine, seeing all those fab clothes and meeting ultra-talented people!

Greek drama

Filed under: Travels, Bloggers' Scrapbook — Donna Cuna-Pita @ 10:05 am

Greece has been in the news lately for several fires raging Athens and nearby cities. I’m really concerned about this because Greece is such a beautiful country! I got a chance to visit around two years ago and I promised myself that I would return someday with my family (I only got there through the generosity of my friend, PR master and ultimate tour guide, Keren Pascual and Ben Chan).
