Dilemma
I finally made up my mind to get me a new laptop. What I haven’t decided on is which one to buy, and I’ve been thinking about it for over a week now. I have two choices: that 7-inch Asus Eee PC, or a regular 12-inch laptop (for the same price as the Asus).
I’ve done the whole pros versus cons thing, and am no closer to a decision: With the Asus, I get something super portable. It can easily fit into my bag, so I don’t have to worry about bringing an extra laptop bag (on top of my backpack filled with gym stuff, and, on some days, my baon). So I won’t be tamad to bring it with me. BUT it’s only got 4GB worth of internal memory—about as much as an iPod holds!
With that regular laptop, I get about 60GB worth of memory, so I could use it as a primary laptop, instead of a secondary one for bringing to work. I also feel like it’d last me longer. BUT, since it’s still pretty big, I am going to have to bring it in a separate bag. The whole point of me getting a laptop is so that I can work at a coffee shop on those days when the office A/C’s a bit too cold, or when I need to get away from those harsh fluorescents to find inspiration elsewhere. So it might be a hassle bringing a bigger laptop, which defeats the whole purpose of my getting one. Still, that memory is worth considering…
Help!
I’ll get the Eee PC if I were you, if you’ll use it mainly for writing and won’t need any killer applications. Just buy an external hard drive (80GB or 60GB, very portable)to solve your memory problems.

12 inch isn’t so bad. But the Asus is sooo cute! If you need portability then okay na yun! Boo I want one too.

Hey, DE! Yeah, I was thinking of getting an external hard drive…but maybe in a few months coz it’s not in my budget right now. Boo.
Lei, get one! We’ll be Eee buddies. Haha.

Size matters not…well sometimes it does daw. Good choice with the 12 inch. I know a lot of people want to go for stuff that’s smaller, but at the end of the day, you’d just end up straining trying to hit keys that are too small for you to hit.

I’m pretty tiny so small keys aren’t a problem.
P.S. The Asus won. My Asus-owner friend couldn’t stop raving about how convenient it was. And I need something easy to tote for when I travel.:)

Ooh, what else is in the EEE? I mean what applications?

It’s got Linux instead of Microsoft Office, but the applications are compatible naman daw–meaning you can email a Microsoft-using friend a document written in Linux and friend can still read it. It’s also got Pidgin (did I get it right?), which is sort of a portal to all the different instant-messaging services (YM, AOL, etc.), so you don’t have to download any of them anymore.:) It’s also got Skype, and a “Potato Guy” game where you can make your own Mr. Potato Head. Haha.

What? Mr. Potato Head? Okay you got me. I’m getting one. Hahaha. Nah I’m so full of crap. Hahaha
