Big, Strong Men

The Warriors (or as I like to call them, Warriors United) fielded a Malakas team in the Philippine Ultimate Association’s Malakas at Maganda tournament. As I wrote in a previous post, the girls couldn’t get enough players to field a Maganda team. Sadness. So we were assigned the role of cheerleaders.

I couldn’t watch the games on the first day, but I heard they had a blast, and the Warriors were some sort of crowd favorite. They actually won one game! It was against a team called the Underdogs (whose Maganda counterpart is a team called the Undercats. Haha). They also played against the Roaches, and I heard it was all in good fun.

Last Sunday was Day 2 and the Warriors played against Agent Orange, one of the top-seeded teams. We were expecting to score just two points against this team, so the four points was over quota! Haha. The second game was against Huck U!, a team of kids who are not familiar with the concepts of “out of breath,” “Flanax,” and “slow the f— down.” Oh well. We were young once…at tatanda din sila! (Bitter much?) They didn’t even have subs—they had six guys and got our team to agree to let them have one girl play. And the girl they fielded just happened to be a really good player (let us not shame the men who guarded her by going into detail. Haha). Let’s just say she should have worn a shirt that said, “Who’s Your Daddy?”

I’m pimpin’ out the dudes on my team. Girls, if you’re interested in any of these fellas, let me know! Just kidding. The guy in red is superstar Peng from Agent Orange.

Day 3 is this Sunday and they’ll be playing against Derek Ramsey’s team…I can’t watch but I want to, although I have an idea how it’s gonna go. Those guys are huge. And fast. So good luck, Warriors!

P.S.
We’ve really gotta start playing more than once a week!
