The Shows I’m Watching Now
I don’t have the patience to download TV shows from the Net (heck, I’ve never even downloaded a song), so my eyes glaze over whenever friends talk about Gossip Girl or season 2 of Heroes. I don’t have a lot of time to watch TV, and normally I’d rather read or hang out with friends than veg in front of the boob tube. But lately, I’ve had a bit of down time and have been watching the following shows:
Buffy the Vampire Slayer (Monday to Friday, 9:00 pm, AXN Beyond)
I discovered Buffy too late, you see. I used to find it weird when my friends would tell me that they were so into it. I mean, a teenager who’s out to rid the world of vampires? How brainless is that? I couldn’t even imagine what kind of flimsy plots each episode had. But I turned into a true-blue Buffy fan when I started watching regularly…on its fifth season! Hence, I missed seeing Cordelia, the whole Angel romance, a sister-less Buffy…I even missed Buffy in high school! Now’s my chance to catch up on this well-loved series. (Yes, I do understand now why it has a cult following.)

If I’m not mistaken, this is the episode where Buffy meets the mother, er, father of all vampires, Dracula.
Dress My Nest (Wednesday, 10:30 pm, ETC)
I reeeaaally like this show, although I’m hardly ever home when it’s shown. I like Thom Filicia’s style, and the whole concept is something I could somehow relate with. I know a bunch of very fashionable people who spend so much time on their outfits, but are completely clueless when it comes to their personal space.
Amazing Race Asia (er…I just watch it when I catch it on AXN. I think it’s shown on Thursdays)
It’s gotten a bit more boring and less funny now that Terri and Henry are gone. I swear, this couple could make me laugh out loud. At the end of one episode wherein they were saved by the “pre-determined non-elimination leg,” Henry said something like, “The team that wins this would have athleticism, good communication, and teamwork. So if we were to win this, it would be a fluke.” Hahahahaha. At the risk of sounding unpatriotic, I’m kind of not rooting for Marc and Rovilson. (In my defense, I was rooting for the other Pinoy team.) I mean, look at these guys. This show’s supposed to be for Mere Mortals. Having them join this race is like…the Rain Man joining Jeopardy! or something. And speaking of…
Jeopardy! (Monday to Friday, I think…although I caught it on a Saturday once, 11:00 pm, ETC 2nd Avenue)
Strangely, people don’t believe me when I say I’m a geek. Do I have “ditz” written on my forehead? Anyhoo, I love love love Jeopardy! The format hasn’t changed much over the years (they just have video clues now and stuff), but it’s still going strong. I particularly like it when the topics are something I have some knowledge of. Throw in stuff like “U.S. Congress” and I’ve got nothing. I probably get to answer less than 10 questions on an average day, but I kill it when it’s Teen Jeopardy! I also do nicely when it’s College Jeopardy! One time, there was an NBA category on regular Jeopardy!, and H swept it. “Ahh, ganito pala pag alam mo ‘yung category,” he said, quite pleased with himself. Haha.

Mr. Smartypants himself, quizmaster Alex Trebek. You gotta love him.
Other shows I watch sporadically: reruns of America’s Next Top Model, Miami Ink (I’m over the phase when I was so into it), Blind Date (guilty!), The Fifth Wheel (guiltier!), and the just-concluded Aussie Open. Last night, I got to watch Age of Love, which held my interest for all of one episode. I figured it wasn’t a show I would watch religiously, so I logged onto the Net today and googled who won.
I knew it!
AXN Beyond is the coolest.

ANTM is one of my guilty pleasures (the ultimate guilty pleasure was “The Search for the Next Doll”!). And oo nga no, you can tell if it’s an early season or a later season by Tyra’s appearance. Hehe.

Ah Buffy. I had a thing for Willow. And it’s a great name. Too bad she bats for the same team:)

The musical Buffy episode was super fun, hahaha. And Alex Trebek rules!

Denis, did you catch the season where Willow turned into Bad Willow?
Julie, I’d forgotten all about that episode! It’d be cool to see it again.:)

Buffy is a classic. I’m glad I watched it going through high school and college. Early Days X-Files was kick-ass as well. =)

Yeah, I was a fan of early X-Files too.:) You know what I wish would be shown again? Twin Peaks. I think I kept falling asleep while watching it before because it was shown so late. Hmm, must hunt for a DVD…

I never really watched X-Files. I just watch Buffy on AXN Beyond and recently I saw an episode of Dresden Files and I liked it. I liked that Buffy episode with the creepy thin creatures and no dialogues and no music. Creepy creepy fun.
