Super Saturday

Filed under: My Week So Far — Tisha Alvarez @ 2:54 pm

So I went home from work at 4:00 a.m. on Saturday, but it was all good. Everyone was in a surprisingly good mood at the office (surprising given the time), and two of my co-workers were sweet enough to supply us with food and drinks to ward off the late-night/early-morning hunger pangs (a double cheeseburger at 3:00 a.m.? I’ll take that!).

Of course I was a bit of a zombie at my 9:00 a.m. dance practice…learned a lot of choreo since I couldn’t make it to Thursday night practice (again because of work)—“Love Stoned,” “Kiss Kiss,” “Seduction,” plus a review of last week’s “Low.” Oh, my poor choreo-overloaded brain! Still, it was nice being able to dance again. A couple of years ago, I told myself I would only stop dancing once I got pregnant. But man, kids move differently nowadays. I think I’m starting to look ridiculous doing what they do, so I’m rethinking my dance cap. But then another part of me telling me that it’s all in my head, and, in choreographer Joyce’s words, I just “have to own it.”

Afterwards, I got to take a delicious nap, before watching H’s basketball game. The other girlfriends and I were so tense because it was a really tight match. (And P.S. I actually enjoy watching H. I’m a basketball fan to begin with, and seeing my man play a sport that I enjoy watching is kinda like a double treat.) We were really hoping they would win as H was having a party that night to celebrate his birthday—any girl with a boyfriend who plays basketball knows that all the boys talk about after losing a game is…losing the game. We certainly didn’t want to be in a place full of glum boyfriends that night. Thankfully, their team won in overtime!

I rushed to my disc pick-up game that night, and played kind of badly. Had two points, but I committed a lot of errors. I’ve really gotta play more—that one month of not playing has affected my, er, skills (I hesitate to call them that). And then, it was a quick shower before going off to the Fort for H’s par-tey. It was funny how we ended up wearing matching outfits (jeans and a white top with silver/gray print; the next day, we were matching again! It’s getting kind of freaky).

If only every Saturday were like this. Except for the 4:00 a.m. part.
