2007 In a Nutshell
Stole this from a friend (who’s “always happy”)…
What did you do in 2007 that you’d never done before?
Attend an Indian wedding!
Did you keep your new years’ resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I didn’t really make resolutions, but I made some for this year.
Did anyone close to you give birth?
Yup! My sister-in-law! And now I have a little piglet of a niece! (And I say that with all the love in the world.)
Did anyone close to you die?
No, thankfully.
What countries did you visit?
Indonesia, Singapore
What would you like to have in 2008 that you lacked in 2007?
More free time!
What date from 2007 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
December 28–my birthday! My mom and my brother threw me a party. Awww. More on that in a future post.
What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Paying for my own trips. Learning to like going to the gym! Being in the Urdaneta Open Mythical 6! Haha.
What was your biggest failure?
Hmmm…not being able to pursue my passion? I didn’t dance much this year
Did you suffer illness or injury?
Minor lang–I pulled a hamstring and it hurt for a couple of weeks.
What was the best thing you bought?
A camera!
Whose behavior merited celebration?
A former co-worker who decided to chase after her dream.
Whose behavior appalled you and made you depressed?
Depressed? Exag. But I was appalled by some boys who were bastos (not to me naman, but still it was kind of sickening to witness).
Where did most of your money go?
Traveling and food! And a camera, a phone, a…yikes.
What did you get really, really, really excited about?
The trip to Bora with my girls. It wasn’t just because it was my first time to go to Bora with them, but also because I was just so stressed in the weeks leading up to that trip.
What song will always remind you of 2007?
Irreplaceable (I know, it was released late 06 but anyway…), Apologize because it was stuck in our heads in Bora, Beautiful Girls because it was playing in every damn place you could think of. (Napapaindak naman ako. Hahaha.)
Compared to this time last year, are you: i. happier or sadder? Happier
ii. thinner or fatter? Thinner! I really put on weight this time last year! I think my metabolism’s faster now so I didn’t gain as much even with all the wanton eating. Hard work really does pay off! iii. richer or poorer? Richer! Which is surprising considering all my expenses. But yay!
What do you wish you’d done more of?
Danced more. Cooked more. Baked more.
What do you wish you’d done less of?
Sleep! (Well, not really. I enjoyed every indulgent minute!)
How will you be spending Christmas?
Spent it with the family.
Did you fall in love in 2007?
Fell deeper. Naks. Hahaha.
How many one-night stands?
None!
What was your favorite TV program?
House, Heroes
Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year?
Hate is a strong word. But nope.
What was the best book you read?
Probably Shogun.
What was your greatest musical discovery?
Rediscovery—the Spice Girls! Haha. They’re baaack. (Note: I was Posh Spice back in high school.)
What did you want and get?
A camera.
What did you want and not get?
More trips.
Favorite film of this year?
300!!! And no, it had nothing to do with a screen full of pandesal! I just thought it was really entertaining. I also loved Stranger than Fiction.
What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
More on this in a succeeding post. And that’s not a question you ask a lady. Hahaha. Just kidding. I’m 28 and I’m loving it!
What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
If I could have danced with the other alumnae again at half time, that would’ve been one for the books.
How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2007?
Casual, sexy, but still ladylike. (Although most days it was just plain casual!) Plus I discovered a love for gold!
What kept you sane?
Faith. And H.
Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Hugh Laurie as House endeared himself to me.
What political issue stirred you the most?
I am so apolitical, sorry.
Who did you miss?
My brother.
Who was the best new person you met?
Oh I met loads of really awesome people!
Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2007.
You attract what you think. So think happy thoughts! Enough of this negativity crap.
Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.
“Tweeeeet tweet tweet tweet tweet tweet tweet tweet tweet tweet tweeeeeeet…Don’t worry, be happy!” (And for the record, I can’t whistle to save my life.)
Tried filling it up. I’m apparently a very cynical and jaded person.

Life’s too short to be cynical! Hehe. But really, wouldn’t you rather spend (or try to spend) each minute seeing the good things in life rather than focusing on the bad stuff?
