The Search for the World’s Ugliest Teapot
“Hey, you want to see the world’s ugliest teapot?”
That’s what my friend Lorie asked me when I went over to her house last Saturday. Bummed out from my apartment’s still-unfixed water pipe leak—which has spiked up my monthly water bill from P100 to P2,500—I ended up saying, “Yes, I want to see that teapot.”
Lorie then proceeded to order me to close my eyes before she presented me with the…creation…that you see. My reaction? “Holy shit, ano yan?” I asked Lorie, who was beside herself with disgust. She then related: “My mom bought this at a sale somewhere. I mean, she was even worried that they might run out of supplies. Imagine that! I told her, ‘Yuck, who would buy that?’”
Of course, we discussed the icky teapot while her mom was out doing groceries and we spent a good hour (or was it two?) laughing over the hideous find—which reminds me of a badly executed homage to those fantasy tales featuring dragons and wizards.
And so, in the spirit of the ugly teapot, I am launching a contest to search for a teapot that can top this one’s screwed up aesthetics. Bring out your ugly teapots! As for the prize, I don’t know…how about 100 teabags?
Hmmm…it’d actually be cool though to see steam coming out of its nostrils.
Or maybe not.

It would have been cool except for that weird blue guy sitting on top. What’s it made out of?

It’s made of ceramics. Hehehe. The weird blue guy is supposed to be a wizard. It serves as the teapot top. The tiny dragon heads are also substitute teapot tops. But Lord knows, the thing will look more hideous if you use those. Hehehe.

i really thought the blue guy is supposed to be santa. sheesh… stupid me. (maybe coz it’s just a few days before xmas) santa in a dragon, what can be weirder and uglier than that? hehe…

Someday, I’ll ask for my mom to include it in her will to give to me as part of my inheritance. I’ll auction it off and make money out of it!
