Pitt of the Crop

Filed under: Hollywood Celebrity For a Day — Donna Cuna-Pita @ 3:17 pm

Of all the Hollywood stars out there, just for one day, I would want to try the life of Brad Pitt.

Now before anyone decides to psychoanalyze my choice, I will enumerate why I want to be him:

1. I want to know how it feels like to be with Angelina. Is she as hot up close and personal as she is onscreen? I don’t want to be Angelina because I want to experience being with her, not being her. Another revealing thought, eh? Hahaha. I have been a man in most of my past lives (according to my clairvoyant friend) and up to this life, I get along better with men, or women who are not so girly. How do you relate to such a hot girl, being such a hot guy too? Do you stare at each other for hours on end because ang ganda ganda niyong dalawa?

Eating Through Paradise

Filed under: Travels, Bloggers' Scrapbook — Tisha Alvarez @ 10:00 am

A couple of years ago, I came to the realization that a well-fed traveler is a happy traveler. I could scrimp on such things as airfare and even forego shopping (well, OK, not completely), but it was important for me to eat well. It came at a point when I had grown tired of cans of corned beef, and was miserable at having to eat fast food that I could easily get in Manila. While I won’t blow all my moolah on three gourmet meals a day, I’ve made it sort of a travel rule to eat what the place I’m visiting is known for, and to have at least one meal a day that leaves me in good spirits.

One great a meal a day isn’t enough in Boracay though. The island just has so many mouth-watering things to offer, that even eating three good meals a day would still leave you with a staggering number of culinary options.

The Kindness of La Union

Filed under: The Kindest Thing Someone Has Done For Me — JR Isaac @ 6:00 pm

One of my must-do lists is to learn something new as much as time permits, and one of these is to surf. Recently I didn’t say no to an opportunity to learn and to brave the waves of La Union for a two-day surfing clinic organized by Liquid Body Surf School, through the kindness of Christian Ong and Tim Goetsch. The experience was overwhelming, with both my body and my mind put into exercise. To learn the discipline on how to catch the wave and to strike a balancing act required a lot falling, white wash outs and waiting for the right wave to ride on. The constant practice and focus was rewarded with a sense of calmness as I glided either gently or roughly in the sea. It was an addictive feeling even if it made me feel like I was spinning inside a washing machine.

Now I must admit that I can’t wait to back to La Union to be with the waves. I appreciate the kindness of Christian and Tim, who helped me mark another check at must-do list. And lastly I would like to thank Ree Soria for capturing these moments.

BATC: Seafood Paella For 99 Pesos!

Filed under: Project BAC — Emma Cerise @ 11:36 am

Another gustatory hotspot brought to you by cheapskate self-proclaimed feeling-gourmand: OCEAN Seafood (just in case you got confused). Next-door neighbor to Don Galo Tapa, this seafood hole-in-the-wall is also below the Katipunan overpass, across Ateneo (between Gates 2 and 3).

The Guy Who Talked All Night With Me About Boobs–And None of Them Mine

Filed under: The Worst Date of My Life — Emma Cerise @ 10:00 am

A few years before I moved to Dumaguete, I used to regularly freelance for FHM Philippines as a contributing writer. I’d cover restaurant and bar features, the male celebrity they’d showcase for the section Quote, Unquote, and yes, I was sent many a time to interview and write about the bodacious babes that appear on its pages (I’ve even done a few covers!).

Anyway, in the thick of my FHM freelancing days, I was set up with a guy whom we’ll just name “Mike.” A non-descript name for a non-descript guy because that’s exactly what he was—vanilla with a desk job.

Groupie For a Night

Filed under: The Worst Date of My Life — Tisha Alvarez @ 5:30 pm

I can’t say I’ve gone on a lot of dates, or maybe I’ve just been in such a great relationship for so long that the dating horror stories of yesteryear don’t seem to matter anymore. So it’s kind of hard to write about The Worst Date of My Life. I think I’ve been lucky in the sense that my not-so-good dates were still OK compared to what other people have had to endure. There was that bad sort-of date where my ex and I broke up (well, more of “cooled off.” Whatever. Do people still do that?). And that date when I was in my room getting ready, literally in tears because I REALLY didn’t want to go out with the guy waiting for me (while I was on the phone with the guy I actually wanted to go out with)—nope, it wasn’t a blind date. In fact, he was my best friend. Er, long story!

And then there was that date where I swore never to go out with a rock star again.

Dating in Manila

Filed under: The Worst Date of My Life — JR Isaac @ 6:44 pm

Dating in Manila is one of the challenges that I face inspite of the fact that I get to be invited at parties and events. An average of four events in a week and sometimes a night that I need to be at, and three events to write about. The social circuit highway is static which is an opportunity to find a date by meeting diverse people.

However in my case, if I will bring a date along with me without a doubt I will be the worst person to be with, since I will be constantly socializing, taking photos and buzzing like a bee as part of documenting the event. Whoever is with me in the end will be annoyed and feel ignored.
