November in Bora
I was bracing myself for chaos in Boracay as I was going there on a four-day weekend—I try to avoid going to Bora during the peak season because the crowds stress me out. I was pleasantly surprised to find that it was the perfect time to go—none of those mobile companies’ banners were plastered all over the island, no big crowds but with enough people for great parties at night, no lumot in the sea, just a bit of rain on the second night. Plus, I got to go with my girls, so yay!
On the first night, I was out cold, having gotten only a couple of hours’ sleep the night before. I’m not a big partier, so I figured I could give up one night just to relax. It was a vacation after all! I woke up feeling refreshed, ready for a day of Ultimate on the beach! No beach trip is complete without it! My ka-barkada Jo and her friend Les are both from the Breakfast Club, one of the teams we played against at Monsoon, so we taught a couple of our girl friends how to play. It was awesome that they were able to score (courtesy of assists by yours truly. Ahem…Haha).
After getting cleaned up and having dinner, we all headed to Summer Place for the Brownman Revival gig. Woohoo!

Brownman at Summer Place

Attaaaack! My girls and I sharing a shark attack at Summer Place
As much as I love Brownman, we couldn’t stay to finish the show because it was just insanely hot in thurrr. So we headed to Juice where we spent the next few hours dancing. I don’t really drink (I’m allergic, for one), but there are a few beverages that I won’t say no to: champagne, Bailey’s, and Tequila Rose, plus the drink that a friend bought me at Juice: Pineapple Malibu! Mmm-mmm-mmm. So worth the palpitations. Haha. We later popped in at Hey Jude for their anniversary party before calling it a night.
The next day, we pretty much just chilled out at a cabana, ordered food and drinks, and played disc, of course! Had me my second massage of the trip before taking a power nap to prepare for our last night of partying.
After a yummy dinner (which I’ll be writing about in another post), we all made our way to Paradiso, where there was a Motorola event. Upon entering, we were given chains to wear around our necks. Each chain had either a padlock or a key, and you were supposed to find your match. If you find him/her, you win a phone!

My friend, Gobs, crossing his fingers, hoping to win that phone
I wasn’t actively looking for my corresponding key because a) I didn’t really need a phone and b) I wasn’t too thrilled about people grabbing at the padlock resting against my chest. So I finally took the chain off and wrapped it around my wrist instead. I wonder if anyone did win a phone that night.
Having had our fill of house music, we headed to Paraw where Embassy was having its hiphop night. We danced until dawn, and were seriously thinking about staying up ‘til it was time to leave for our morning flight. But ahh, no matter how willing the spirit is, the flesh (particularly mine) can’t resist the call of a comfortable bed. So I slept for an hour and a half, before packing up and saying goodbye to Bora. At least for now!
