BAC (Best Among the Cheapest)
Consider this my first pick among what I hope to be a collection of BAC (Bestest Among the Cheapest) thrills—from meals to clothes to cosmetics and everything in between.

This week’s BAC candidate: Steak 2000 porkloin, at the food court of Robinson’s Galleria.
87 bucks. That’s how much it is to get a sizzling plate of grilled porkloin on a bed of gravy, java rice, an extra order of sunny side-up, and a small siding of grilled veggies. It’s cheaper than a rice meal at any fast-food joint. (Come to think of it, fast-food isn’t even cheap anymore.)
This is my go-to meal when I’m broke, famished, but kind of clueless as to what to eat. Steak 2000’s offerings are savory and come in decent servings. They’re lardy and probably ridden with MSG, but it is the cheapest decent meal this side of the hemisphere. Located at any garden-variety mall food court. (Vegetarians can probably ask for a gluten substitute.)
