Because I’m out of touch with the dating scene

And I thought Erap was hard to blog about. Haha.

This, of course, isn’t something I could claim to be an expert on since I haven’t gone on a first date in about seven years! I don’t even know what’s uso now. I’m surprised when people still bring up the subject of courtship (as in, “This guy was making me ligaw…”) because I didn’t think it still happened in this day and age. (Surprisingly, it does!)

Now, if I were thrust back into the whole dating scene (heaven forbid), what would I do? Personally, I wouldn’t go very far. Maybe a playful touch on the arm, a goodnight peck on the cheek. I’m a manang that way. Haha. Which is not to say that’s what I believe other people should do. What’s right for me isn’t necessarily right for everyone (or anyone) else.

As I’ve gotten older (dare I say matured?), I’ve stopped playing games and stopped listening to dating rules. I’m an advocate of going with the flow. Essentially, I think it’s all about who you are. Just be yourself—if you’re the type who’s not into the slightest physical contact with someone you’ve just met, then own it. Don’t be forced into a smooch because you feel like first-date rules dictate it. If you feel you’ve found the love of your life and are dying to say “yes” as he invites you to his place to “see his stamp collection,” then why not? Just be responsible, and be prepared to deal with the consequences of whatever you decide to do (or not do). And don’t do anything you would wake up the next morning regretting!

That said, I am extremely glad that my days of first dates are behind me!
