Because my answer is “No comment”
Man, this has got to be the toughest topic to date. And it’s not because of all the implications of taking a stand. Truth be told, it’s because I have no stand. See, I do my duty as a citizen—you know, pay my taxes, go out and vote every three years—but I’ve always described myself as apolitical. It’s a bit ironic, especially since I was in student government practically my entire student life. But there you go.
Honestly, I pretty much avoid political conversations. It’s not some sort of Peter-Pan syndrome of wanting to stay young forever and just talk about make-up and boys! Talk to me about religion. Talk to me about history. Talk to me about relationships and family and career. But politics? Good grief. I’m just not interested.
At least, I’m not interested in the dirt. When it comes to politics, I like hearing about the good stuff. How other governments are able to turn their economic situation around. How efficient everything is in progressive nations. So until I hear about the good stuff going on in our own political scene, I’ve got nothing much to say.
