Would you get a Brazilian wax?

Take our poll on how you deal with the hair down there.

would_you_get_a_brazilian.jpgTo wax or not to wax? For many women, that is certainly the question. Today’s tiny swimsuit trends and sultry lingerie styles have made it next to impossible for the modern gal to avoid at least a brush with bikini waxing, or the epilation of body hair from the pubic region. Although it is still considered somewhat taboo in more conservative nations (including our own), pubic hair removal for women is steadily become as much of an aesthetic norm as shaving one’s legs or armpits.

Whereas different parts of the world practice their own type of bikini waxing (the American style limited to just the hair outside the bikini line; the French style leaving a “landing strip”), perhaps the most well-known is the Brazilian, which removes all hair in the pelvic area—front, back, and in between. It is for this reason that the Brazilian wax is both sought after and feared. The idea that the process takes everything you’ve got sounds attractive to some—and excruciating to others. And then there are those who choose not to wax at all, simply because they like their lady parts au naturel.

Never gotten a Brazilian before, but want to try it? Check out FN's Brazilian wax guide for waxing virgins.

Poll Question:
Would you get a Brazilian wax?
  1. Definitely! I love the fresh feeling and the fact that my bikini bottoms and sexy underwear slip on so smoothly.
  2. Not a Brazilian, but definitely a less drastic wax to keep my bikini line clean.
  3. Maybe. I’d have to ask my friends who’ve already gotten one how much it really hurts.
  4. Hell no! We’ve got hair down there for a reason—why mess with it?

don't drink coffee before having a BW. it'll cause you to be nervous (even if you're not a first timer) and become more aware of the pain.

went to a shop where they only offer cold wax services. the attendant there said that if you want to have a brazilian and ur scared of the pain, u should take 2 advils an hour before the treatment. i'm kinda curious to do this procedure just to know how it feels like but i haven't collected enough courage to undergo it just yet.

Brazilian wax has become increasingly popular, especially among the younger and dynamic set of women, for its aesthetic value and clean appearance. Some people love that every bit of their hair is gone. It’s seeing that part of your body that looks and feels gorgeous. You get this sort of Brazilian rush! Once you’re bare down there, you’ve got more blood going to that section and some women feel very, very sexy with it. So if you want to spice up your sex life, get a Brazilian waxâ€"and for newbies, I highly recommend Lay Bare Waxing Salon (I go to Congressional Ave.). Staff are professional, ambiance is cool and you get quality service at an affordable price.

since i tried getting a brazilian wax, i've never felt cleaner and more confident. there's the pain of course, but the results are fantastic.

if you have low tolerance for pain, you can opt for cold wax instead of the hot one.

I really love BW! it makes me feel so clean and fresh and it's very hygienic. The pain would just be for a while and it's rewarding since you feel very clean down under...as the saying goes, no pain - no gain.

Take an advil (or any mefenamic acid) 1 hour before your session, it will lessen the pain.

Some salons have these Gigi topical creams and sprays that numb the skin before waxing. They will surely ease out pain in any waxing procedures.

If you're worried about pain take an ibuprofen 30mins - 1hr before you get waxed, it helps... and accdg to Cosmo its best to get it bet. 3-5pm your pain threshold is at its peak :)

gals, try brazilian SUGARING. It's much gentler, less painfull and most effective hair removal method. sugaring can extract very short hairs so no need of tweezing or threading short hairs!

Try and visit Barenaked Body Sugaring Salon. They have branches at SM Novaliches and Sm Taytay and will be opening a new branch in SM Fairview this coming Sept.

    You can visit http://www.facebook.com/pages/Barenaked-Body-Sugaring-Salon/190309330982947

and learn the advantages of sugaring vs. waxing!
