Sustainable living is a big buzzword nowadays. We all know we must care for the environment, though in most situations, we don’t know how to do it. Now, thanks to the Ayala Mall’s new Greenology campaign, we can make a contribution even when going to the mall!

The latest thrust in its ongoing commitment to raise the standard of sustainable living in the country, Greenology is a series of eco-friendly initiatives aimed at involving merchants and mall-goers in efforts to save the environment.

As a kickoff to the Greenology events, this month Ayala Malls launched the ECO TOTE, a responsible yet stylish way for shoppers to lug their loot. The reusable Eco Totes are available in six styles created by fashion designers Louis Claparols, Michi Calica-Sotto, Vic Barba, Patrice Ramos-Diaz, Jun Escario, and Randy Ortiz (all of whom are featured in Greenbelt 5’s Filipino Zone). Beginning August 21, the Eco Totes will be available at the concierge of the different Ayala Malls and can be purchased for P400, P100 of which goes to the World Wildlife Fund ; further proceeds go to a charity of the designers’ choosing. Check out StyleBible’s gallery to see the designs and to learn more about the causes supported by each designer.

Creative expression is also given free reign with ECO ART, a display of edgy art installations featuring sculptures and 3D models that aims to educate shoppers on the amount of garbage generated by using plastics and paper cups. From August 28 to September 11, the exhibits will be shown simultaneously around Glorietta, Greenbelt, Alabang Town Center, Market! Market!, TriNoma, Bonifacio High Street, Ayala Center Cebu, and UP Techno Hub, and will feature renowned artists Alma Quinto, Pete Jimenez, Mac Valdezco and Ral Arrogante with students from University of the Philippines, University of the East, University of Sto. Tomas, College of St. Benilde, Far Eastern University, Philippine Women’s University and Technical University of the Philippines.

Upcoming events for next month include a healthy—and hip—fun run on September 13 dubbed the ECO DASH and the release of the limited edition GREEN LINE, a collection of clothes and accessories created by top designers and local brands using eco-friendly materials.

Stay tuned to FN.com for more eco-friendly updates and contact the Ayala Malls concierge nearest you for more information: Alabang Town Center (842-2782); Ayala Center Cebu ((032) 516-2035); Bonifacio High Street (856-0523); Glorietta (752-7272); Greenbelt (757-4583); Market!
