Kelly Price and Giuliana Rancic Stun in Oliver Tolentino

The Grammy nominee and the E! host wow in dresses by the Filipino designer.

kelly-giuliana-oliver.jpgHomegrown talent was at its best at the 54th Grammy Awards last February 12. Among the various foreign labels in display, one Filipino designer's creations caught the eye of fashion watchers worldwide. Oliver Tolentino, whose designs evoking Old Hollywood glamor have gained him increasing fame in the local and international fashion scene, had two of his gowns worn by Grammy nominee Kelly Price.

Kelly, who was nominated for Best R&B Performance, Best R&B Song, and Best R&B Album, chose two stunning Tolentino designs that perfectly suited her figure and coloring. The first was a blue and silver sequined lace mermaid gown, which Kelly wore for her performance at the pre-telecast awards ceremony. She then changed into a burgundy sequined number just as stunning as the one she wore before it for the red carpet and the telecast awards show.

This isn't the first time Kelly relied on Oliver for her red carpet ensemble; she also wore one of his designs to the 2011 Grammys. Oliver was delighted that she picked his designs, saying, "I was so flattered because Kelly told me that, as soon as she heard she was nominated for three Grammys, she got in her car and drove an hour to my shop just to see if I’d dress her again. Of course I said yes! She’s a very nice person in addition to being so talented. It really made me feel good that she was so pleased with last year’s gown she didn’t consider any other options."

And if that isn't enough, another Hollywood personality chose Oliver Tolentino for her televison appearance. Fashion Police host Giuliana Rancic donned a draped orange cocktail dress in beautiful French lace for the show's 2012 Grammys special. According to Oliver, "That dress is from my MetroWear Icon show last October. The inspiration for the collection was Old Hollywood. It is exciting that something from the runway in Manila was worn in Hollywood."

There's no doubt about it—Oliver Tolentino's international star is clearly rising. Next in line for the designer is a 50-piece show in March at San Diego Women's Week, where he will be the first ever featured designer.
