Shoe tips from the stars

Feb 16, 2009 by FN's Trixie Reyna

There’s a shoe-lover in every woman—including Hollywood celebrities. After all, they do get first dibs on all the designer footwear mere mortals like us can only drool over.

However, if there’s anything we can get from the stars’ shoe fetish, it’s great footwear tips, which they shared with InStyle. Here are some of them.

1. Sarah Jessica Parker, a shoe-lover like her Sex and the City character Carrie, believes you should go “for the wow factor with bags and shoes” instead of merely following trends in clothes.

2. Scarlett Johansson makes it a point to wear heels during red carpet events so she will “look ladylike,” even if she's fond of wearing flats.

3. Jennifer Love Hewitt, however, suggests wearing comfy shoes under a really long dress instead of strutting around in heels during special events.

4. Sandra Bullock recommends “sexy boots, [which] can complete an outfit the way a shoe can't.”

5. Rachael Leigh Cook divulges that she has small feet, which is why she often wears “pointy shoes so everything looks in proportion, especially in photos.”

6. Vanessa Williams declares, “The worst thing is to sit in a dress or shoes that aren't you. You're fake if you feel uncomfortable.”
