Designer Preview: Rajo Laurel’s “La Latina” Spring/Summer 2010 Collection

Sashay down the seaside--or the sidewalk--in these soft summer pieces. By Stephanie Castillo

Rajo Laurel’s aptly titled “La Latina” collection takes inspiration from the sultry, ultra-feminine culture of South America. Ruffles, lace, and gypsy-like silhouettes pervade the spring/summer line, bringing to mind the leisurely attire worn at affluent haciendas. Maxidresses, tiered skirts, and floaty blouses all echo the same sentiment: unrestricted movement! Sheer layers of linen and chiffon, dramatically draped jersey, and meticulous beadwork highlight the collection’s tone of laid-back luxury. A warm palette of beige, champagne, taupe, and white is punctuated with vibrant bursts of turquoise, lavender, coral, and red. Romantic, relaxed, and oh-so-raw, Rajo’s summer separates are sure to seduce any woman’s inner Latina.
