Apart from being entertained by the story and identifying with their fun female leads, what we loved most about movies like The Devil Wears Prada and Sex and the City—and what we can’t wait to see in the upcoming Confessions of a Shopaholic (showing on February 18)—are the lust-worthy clothes!
It’s no wonder though that all three chick flicks feature the hottest in fashion, since they all have the same costume designer: Hollywood’s favorite stylist, Patricia Field. In this month’s issue of OK! Philippines, Pat shares some fashion tips to help us achieve that sought-after celebrity style—for less. Here are some of them:
On looking great for less: Pat advises striking a balance between what you can afford and what style you want to exude. “Stay within your budget and wear clothes that make you feel happy.”
On fashion must-haves: She points out that styling varies from person to person, based on their body shape, age, and ideas. Everyone should discover their own style.
On achieving the looks in the movies: Pat says your outfit doesn’t have to be expensive as long as it’s imaginative. “Always look put together…match different pieces well.”
Her best fashion advice: With or without money, “you can wear clothes that suit you well and go with your complexion. You know the colors that work. Color doesn’t cost a dime and is so important. But I think sometimes we make too much of style. I think we need to stay really simple,” she says.
