How do you show your love and concern for animals through fashion?
Some do it by supporting only products that were not tested on animals, and shunning those that were proven to have done animal-testing. Others play dress up with their beloved pets in support of other animals in need of care and shelter.
We got to chat recently with volunteers for PAWS or the Philippine Animal Welfare Society, when they were launched along with eleven other non-profit organizations who will benefit when you complete Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf's drink card this holiday season. They told us that, among other fund raising events, they hold an annual Halloween event called "Scaredy Cats & Dogs," highlighted by a costume contest.
Now on its fifth year, the event held last October 26 at Eastwood Central Plaza aimed to raise money for the PAWS Animal Rehabilitation Center, a temporary shelter for over a hundred dogs and cats who were either abandoned or rescued from cruelty or neglect. The shelter staff and volunteers work hard to rehabilitate these animals with the ultimate goal of finding new loving homes for them. The facility is solely dependent on donations and fund raising activities such as this to keep it running.
FemaleNetwork admires those who participated in the costume contest and put their styling know-how and creativity to good use, dressing up in Halloween garb with their pets to support this cause as their way of celebrating the colorful occasion. If you missed the chance to participate in this fun, fashionable event, watch for future PAWS activities you can participate in; after all, one of the best trends you can wear on your sleeve these days is a big heart.
