1We love getting a gel polish manicure because it gives us glossy painted nails that last for weeks, but it can also be a b**ch to remove. You usually have to go to the salon and pay extra bucks to have it taken off, but if you want to do it yourself, here's how to properly remove the polish without damaging your nails.

File the surface.
Gently break down the surface of the gel polish wth a nail file to help the remover seep into the lacquer.

Keep it gentle.

Wrap and soak.
Instead of using a cotton ball soaked in remover and foil strips to saturate your nails, get foil wraps with built-in cotton pads. Allot 10 minutes for your nails to properly absorb the formula.

Scrape off.
When the 10 minutes have passed, gently wipe the cotton pad back and forth before taking it off completely. There will probably be some leftover gel polish on the sides. Use a wooden orange stick to peel it off.
