One of the things women tend to neglect is the need to understand their skin completely, which is ironic because our skin is one of the things we obsess most about. We all want perfect-looking skin, yet, most of the time, we overlook the first step to achieving it.
The easiest solution we usually come up with is to try whatever new skincare product is out in the market; we’re easily persuaded by its beauty claims, cute packaging, or celebrity endorsers without being completely aware of its effect on our skin.
Stop playing dermatologist and take the real first step to achieving great skin: knowing your skin type through the help of experts. In case you didn’t know, there are several skin types: dry, oily, or a combination of both. Knowing your skin type will guide you in picking out products that will target your specific skin dilemmas and eventually give you the skin you’ve always wanted.
Aside from going to the dermatologist, I didn’t know you can actually get a skin consultation from renowned skincare brand Clinique until we went to the Clinique counter at Rustan’s Makati. They have a pair of trained skincare consultants who helped us determine accurately what our skin type is through a series of questions.
Josie, our very friendly beauty consultant, explained the importance of knowing your skin concerns and how to deal with them using the right products. I learned that my skin type is combination-oily skin, since only my T-zone area is particularly oily. Josie then proceeded to demonstrate how to do the very simple yet effective 3-Step Skin Care System: Cleanse, Exfoliate, and Moisturize. Ladies, just remember these three words and your skin is set!
