Buy Kiehl's Limited Edition Creme de Corps and help poor Pasig River kids find homes

Nov 11, 2009 by Stephanie Castillo

Revered the world over for its fine quality skin and hair care products, New York brand Kiehl’s continues a long-standing tradition of charitable work by partnering with American art phenom KAWS for the 2009 holidays. After successful collaborations with Commes Des Garcons, Marc Jacobs, and most recently, Kanye West, New York artist KAWS designs the label for Kiehl’s Limited Edition Creme de Corps Holiday Collection, a special Christmas package of the brand’s bestselling body cream, with proceeds going directly to children’s charities.

The Creme de Corps collection comes in 250ml bottles (PHP1,800) and 500ml bottles with pump (PHP3,150).

A super-enriched formula of Jojoba and Shea butters and Sweet Almond Oil paired with decades-worth of customer satisfaction has given Kiehl’s Creme de Corps a cult following in both sexes—making it the perfect gift for any loved one. This yuletide season, the iconic body cream will feature a KAWS signature label in the artist’s bright, cartoonist style. From each bottle sold locally, 100% of net profits will be donated to Kapit Bisig Para Sa Ilog Pasig, specifically to fund the relocation of poor children living on the riverbanks. Purchasing this exclusive luxury lotion will not only keep your skin hydrated but, more importantly, will place countless kids in suitable shelters.

Aside from the Creme de Corps label, KAWS has also contributed to the “Peace, Love, Kiehl’s” holiday campaign to raise awareness for the brand’s charitable pursuits. Commendable for its humanitarian efforts, “Peace, Love, Kiehl’s” is even more unique for its personalized gift sets. To make it a little easier on the average Christmas shopper, Kiehl’s has put together gift options for specific people in your life, categorized according to intimacy as well as price. “Peace” gift sets for friends and acquaintances go for under PHP1,500; “Love” gifts sets for family and loved ones will cost you under PHP2,500; and “Kiehl’s” gift sets for the true brand fanatics retail for PHP2,700 and above. Each set of 3-5 products is recipient-specific, with cutesy titles like “For the Favorite Aunt” and “For the BFF (Or All 4 BFFs).” KAWS’ designs for the “Peace, Love, Kiehl’s” campaign will be unveiled in store windows across the globe this holiday season.

Support Kiehl’s in its passion for beauty and charity! You’ll be making this Christmas a truly merry one for friends, family, and folks less fortunate than yourself.

"Peace, Love, Kiehl’s” gift sets and Limited Edition Creme de Corps are available at the Kiehl’s Boutique, Ground Floor, Greenbelt 5.

Philosophy's Holiday Sets: The Gift of Yummy Smells

Nov 11, 2009 by Betty Tianco

Philosophy’s much-awaited holiday sets hit the stores this week, giving beauty junkies lots of stocking-stuffer options—or a chance to get some of these indulgent, good-enough-to-eat products for themselves!

Known for their food- and recipe-inspired all-in-one shampoo, shower gel, and bubble bath lines, Philosophy goes seasonal with holiday sets like “The Cookbook,” a book-shaped package of six Christmas-evoking flavors—pumpkin spice, red velvet, hot cocoa, spicy pear, gingerbread, and cinnamon buns—and “The Recipe Box,” a matched set containing red velvet and sweet creamy frosting shower gels and actual recipe cards. Another quirky combination aptly named “'Twas the night before,” consists of the traditional gift kids leave out for Santa on Christmas eve—milk and cookies, in shower gel form, of course.

For those who prefer to keep their edibles on their plates and their toiletries smelling more sophisticated, layering sets of Philosophy’s popular Love and Grace fragrances are also available. The sets contain a 2oz. bottle of eau de toilette, an 8oz shower gel, and a 2 oz. tube of body butter, in signature scents “amazing grace,” “pure grace,” and “unconditional love.”

These shoes are made for flyin'

Nov 3, 2009 by Stephanie Castillo

After successful collaborations with fashion legend Vivienne Westwood and ingenious furniture designers The Campana Brothers, Brazilian shoe label Melissa once again finds itself in an unexpected tie-up—this time with noted names in the field of architecture and industrial design. The cutting-edge brand launches a duo collection of innovative footwear in partnership with famous architect Zaha Hadid and noted industrial designer Karim Rashid.

The first woman to receive the Pritzker Prize (the Nobel’s equivalent in architecture), Zaha Hadid is considered the most important woman in her field today. Combining Melissa’s superior injection technology with a fluid, wavelike aesthetic, Hadid created a collection of sandals which merges futuristic artistry with nonchalant wearability.

Karim Rashid, on the other hand, is renowned not only in structural design but in furniture, lighting, and art as well. He has done work for clients such as Prada, Issey Miyake, and Umbra. For his collection under Melissa, Rashid was enthusiastic about working with plastic, fashioning his line of footwear into unusually-molded, ultra-modern platforms imbued with sensual minimalism. His line Melissa + Karim (P4,195 per pair) is now available at Mix in Greenbelt 5 and soon in selected Culte Femme boutiques. Hadid's line, Melissa + Zaha Hadid (P12,950 per pair), is available exclusively at Mix in Greenbelt 5.
