momBeing a mom is both exciting and terrifying. There are so many things that you need to know and prepare for. You want to be the best parent for your child, so you’re probably receptive to every piece of advice that other people will give you.

For all the moms out there who’ve experienced what’s it like to take care of a child and see him or her grow (or who are in the middle of this wonderful process), what advice would you give to other moms, especially moms who are expecting their first children? What are the things you learned along the way that you wish someone had told you beforehand? We are sure your fellow FN moms will appreciate it when you share all the wisdom and knowledge that experience has taught you.

don't obsess in cute/signature stuff (i.e. clothes, accessories). babies grow so fast and before you know it, they don't fit anymore in their cute suit.

love a little disorder. learn to let go of small things. being a mom is a serious task, far serious and more important than maintaining your color-coded hangers in the closet.

As much as you can, do not compare your children from others. We grew up differently and chances are, our influences are different as well.

Babies do not need much so hold off on buying gears and stuff.

Having children means chaos in both fun and serious way. Let it be. Don't be too controlling or you will lose your sanity. Let our children learn from all the chaos.

Time is precious. Our children grow really fast so savor every moment you can.

Every relative, friend, co-worker or stranger who has ever had a child will tell you how to do things as if they have a PhD in infant care and child rearing. Don't listen too much.

Notice how each (unsolicited) advice contradicts the next? That's because every child and situation is unique, and only you can decide what's best for yours. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

There isn't a single best mom in the world; there are lots of them -- and that includes you. :)

I was about to say the same things Sel T did. Do not feel too pressured about what everyone around you says. Breastfeeding vs formula, pacifier vs thumbsucking, tv vs no TV... there are a lot. Do what you think is best for your baby AND you. You will not be able to give the best care for your baby if you are always feeling stressed out.
