What’s the ideal age to have kids?

poll_start_family.jpgThe rate of teen pregnancy has skyrocketed over the years, and with it the uproar over young mothers who aren’t far from children themselves. Public figures in the youth sector are no exception: actress Jamie Lynn Spears (little sister to Britney) was pregnant at 17 and Sarah Palin’s daughter Bristol at 18. Even popular culture has picked up on the “trend” (for lack of a better word)—the 2007 film Juno, starring Ellen Page as a teenaged mother, drew not only critical acclaim but also heated debates over its touchy subject matter.

Because of this, it’s essential that you discuss procreation—and the right time to do it—with your own children, so they can avoid the difficulties of becoming a teen parent. If you don’t have children (yet), it’s also important that you ask yourself these questions: When is the right time to get pregnant? Am I ready at this age? Do I even want children? The answers you come up with could be your first steps toward potential family planning! To find out where you stand on the matter, answer our poll below.

Poll Question:
What’s the ideal age to have kids?
  1. In your 20s, so you can still keep up with their generation as they grow up.
  2. In your 30s, so you have a better sense of self and maturity—useful tools for parenting any child.
  3. In your 40s, so you can provide the best life for them while having more leeway at your job—the corporate climb is (hopefully) at an end!
  4. Never! Offspring is overrated!

my doctor said that at the age of 35 women will have a hard time conceiving and giving birth that is why for me it should be during the 20 that a woman can get pregnant.

I think that most pinays are more stable when they reach 30's although it is really ideal to conceive in your 20's. I think the bottom line of it all is your health.

I voted for 20s but I think it should be late 20s na, past the 25th mark. At least by that time, you have a job. I would have voted for 30s but I think it's not healthy for women at that age to give birth (especially late 30s)

between 26-32 is ideal for me. being at this age, being physically, emotionally, financially, and psychologically prepared is ideal. Based on some stories of some people, earlier than ths age brings them a lot adjustments. And the best thing about having kids is your heart to have them. If you do, you can plan and prepare yourself for all the responsibilities and inevitable problems of being a parent.

It's best to have kids in your late 20's coz the female body can still handle the pressures of childbirth plus women are more mature emotionally, psychologically and at least financially able to support her kid, especially when she's a single mom.

If you reach the age of 30's there is a bit difficulty in having babies. Some has to go to fertility clinic just to make kids. It's better when you reach mid 20's at least your mature; early 20's still just about to enjoy life.

the best time to procreate is from 25-30. that's when all your body systems are at their prime to carry your extra load.

in your 20s! for the same reason as the poll stated (so you can still keep up with their generation as they grow up).

I always believed that the best age for motherhood is during mid-20's. I'm right on track, I'm currently 28 weeks pregnant at 27y.o.
