Hearing that your child may have a learning disorder can be devastating, overwhelming, and very painful for any parent. At this point, you may get defensive and see this as an attack on your child or maybe on your parenting skills. However, now isn't the time for you to bring out your claws. Your child's teacher is only making sure that her students are learning and developing according to the milestones for their age. As she interacts with your own child daily, it is inevitable for her to notice things, be it good or maybe a little bit unusual.
The best course of action? Stay positive. Take time to gather your thoughts. This may be a long journey for everyone, depending on the outcome, so it’s important that you are ready.
