Kids at Work: 5 Tips When Bringing Your Children to the Office

Is there room for your child at the office? A number of factors will help determine this. By Malou Del Castillo

kidBringing your child to work is acceptable in companies that are very child-friendly. A few employers even provide daycare or summer camp for the kids. But more formal working environments, such as banks, the service industry—highly secure, technical, or production workplaces—clearly would not appreciate the presence of a child wandering around the work area.

 

So how do you know whether or not it's acceptable to bring your child to work? Take your cue from your company HR or top managers. Have you seen them take their own kids to the office? Is your boss understanding of your maternal obligations? If so, they would probably understand and tolerate having an employee’s child in the office once in a while. Below are a few things you have to keep in mind if you are planning to bring your kid to work.
