Happy Homebody: 40 Fun Low-Cost Activities You Can Do without Leaving the House

A couple weeks back, FNite @ChristineEverth Tweeted, "@FemaleNetwork I'm super tipid this week. There's 3/4 left of last week's budget. Yipeee!!!" When we congratulated her and ask her if she had any tipid tips to share with us (because managing to consume only 25 percent of our weekly budget is something we'd definitely want to be able to do), she replied, "Stay at home. No huge expenses there."

We definitely agreed that staying at home does tend to keep the spending down--after all, when you pay for your meals at a restaurant or your ticket to the movie theater, part of what you're paying for is the cost of service, rent, electricity, and the like. Still, we wondered, "But how much can you really do at home?" And as we began to list the things people could do--either alone or with company--we realized you don't really have to hit the mall or the gym or anywhere else if all you're looking for is a little light entertainment and productiveness!

Scroll down for a list of 40 things you can do without leaving the comfort of your abode. We've offered four different scenarios--when you've got your gal pals over, when you're with your family, when it's just you and your guy, and when you're home all by your lonesome.

I really love all the suggestions! Very cool, creative and easy to do. I like all the home with the girls ideas but I don't have any girlfriends :( The ones with my man I could definitely do and the ones when I'm home alone. I never thought to play dress up! What a fun way to spend time alone and be a kid again playing with mama's pearls and heels. Thanks for this article. It definitely livened up my morning.
