Little Canadian town for lit lovers

Oct 20, 2008 by FN Blogger Kissa CastaƱeda

CANADA - There's always something endearing about small towns and cities. They resonate with simplicity and lend you a different perspective on life. In Canada, an example of such city is Stratford, Ontario.

Stratford is a popular tourist spot among locals for many reasons. It is quaint, welcoming, and friendly as most small cities, but what sets it apart is its devotion to the arts. If you want to get your dose of culture and literature while in Canada, then dropping by Stratford is a must.

Stratford is home to the Shakespeare Festival--a haven for Shakespeare lovers and theatre fans alike. Here, you can watch a superb rendition of Hamlet and also enjoy something from other writers, like George Bernard Shaw's Caesar and Cleopatra.

While you're not going to find newer shows like Jersey Boys or Wicked, you'll be given a chance to experience contemporary productions of the classics. What better way to enrich your cultural knowledge than learning those?
