How are you celebrating Earth Day?

Happy Earth Day, FN girls!

They may be getting on your nerves, but all those lectures and tips on saving the earth are really worth listening to. Have you thought about doing your own little contribution for nature? We've come up with some easy tips that will really go a long way.

  1. Buy a recyclable shopping bag that you can use every time you shop. Not only do they look nice, they also help minimize plastic usage. If you're buying small items in a convenience store, you can always ask the baggers not to put them in plastic anymore, especially if you have enough room in your bag.
  2. Going out for coffee at your favorite coffee shop? Bring your own mug and ask the baristas to serve your drink in it instead. There are loads of cute travel coffee mugs out there! At Starbucks, they'll even knock five pesos off your bill if you bring your own Starbucks travel mug for your drink. You can also ask the baristas to give you a teaspoon so you won’t have to use a plastic stirrer for your drink.
  3. Use handkerchiefs instead of tissues, especially if you'e not exactly eating messy food.
  4. If you're going to the beach this summer, please do mind the resort rules. Throw away your garbage in proper garbage cans, and try not to pick up seashells for your collection.
  5. Why not wear green today? Check out FN Style's suggestions about wearing green on Earth Day!
  6. And if you really do want to know more about the latest news and even go all-green when you surf the internet, read FN Tech's entry about the first eco browser and how you can get one for yourself.

Earth day comes only once a year, but it would be great if we could practice these everyday, too. After all, every little effort is worth a lot in the long shot!
