Check out this architect's ideas for Manila

Apr 29, 2008 by FN's Shar Bareng

Can you imagine walking on a garden smack in the middle of EDSA? Or maybe admiring a colorful artwork all over the LRT system that doesn't have anything to do with MMDA Art?

Well, architect Jimmy Caumeron, surely can. And he even shows us his ideas for a more beautiful Manila in his blog, Metroplexed. His brilliant ideas include a remodeled Baywalk after Mayor Lim removed the commercial establishments in it, pools near the Manila Bay, and our favorite idea to date: "the Great Walk of Edsa," a series of elevated walkways with trees that shed yellow flowers--a somewhat beautiful reminder of the peaceful revolutions that took place here.

They may look undoable, but we can't help but imagine what it would be like if his ideas get some attention from the government. Just picturing the EDSA garden already makes us wish it's for real--it's beautiful, it can even help generate clean air for the city, and wow, it makes the idea of walking along EDSA really nice!

We've got to give props for this guy and his friends, really, and also cross our fingers that his illustrations jump into real life someday, if not soon.
