A Christmas Carol: Relive the yuletide tradition

Nov 18, 2008 by FN's Shar Bareng

rep_cc.jpgRepertory Philippines brings back a holiday tradition with its staging of the classic musical A Christmas Carol, based on Charles Dickens’ story about an ill-tempered man who calls Christmas a "humbug."

A Christmas Carol brings together Manila's most popular theater actors. Michael Williams and Audie Gemora alternate as Ebenezer Scrooge, the miserable Christmas-hater visited by Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future, who showed him the meaning of the season. Avenue Q's Felix Rivera alternates with TV host JM Rodriguez as the younger Scrooge, while Christine Escudero and Cara Barredo play Scrooge's sweetheart.

Thespians Miguel Faustmann, Onyl Torres, Joy Virata, Pinky Marquez, Rem Zamora, Oliver Usison, and Liesl Batucan round up the cast as they bring to life the generous and fun-loving Mr. And Mrs. Fezziwig and the three Ghosts of Christmas.

Repertory Philippines' A Christmas Carol began staging last Friday and will run until December 14 at Onstage Greenbelt One, Ayala Malls, Makati City. Call 887-0710 or Ticketworld at 891-9999 for ticket inquiries.
