Young, Famous, and Influential: But Are They Good Role Models for Your Kids?

Tell us which of these young female stars are the best influences on girls today. By Stephanie Castillo
Add Yours

They’re pretty, popular, and paid way more than regular folks twice their years—and before many of them hit the legal age, these girls were already household names. Young female stars are taking the worldwide entertainment industry by storm, with chart-topping tunes, box office hits, and small screen smashes that have garnered them legions of followers—including your own daughters, nieces, and little sisters.

Certainly, millions of fans applaud these young celebrities for making it big at such a tender age. But others—like concerned moms—are quick to point out that some starlets don’t quite send out the right message. Impressionable adolescent girls who make up a hefty chunk of the “young Hollywood” demographic can easily be influenced by the negative behavior of their idols, whether it’s a foul attitude, a provocative fashion sense, or in worst cases, a drug and alcohol habit.

To illustrate our point, we’ve put together a gallery of ten top female starlets—some who are gracing the world with their class acts, and others who are sadly just disgracing themselves. Tell us: who do you think is a good role model?

    Taylor Swift - yup!

    Kristen Stewart - idk

    Dakota Fanning - yes

Hayden Panettiere - big YES "save the dolphins from japs"

Emma Watson - yeah (she's cool)

    Vanessa Hudgens - maybe

    Selena Gomez - maybe

    Lindsay Lohan - HELL NO (she's a super b*tch)

Anne Hathaway - maybe (oh I thought the list is only for those girls in their early 20's)

I like Miley Cyrus but I agree she's acting irresponsibly lately. About Taylor Swift and Joe, I guess she was just heartbroken. Kristen Stewart is lucky she still has the limelight. I don't like a girl who curses too much though. It's the 1st time I've seen the pictures with her bf smoking mjs. I haven't heard of Dakota's rape scene but I think she's okay, and smart too! About Hayden and Emma Watson, I guess they just like older men. Besides, men take longer to mature. I'm just happy for Vanessa Hudgens that she is still with Zac Efron after all the controversy. Lucky girl! I don't like Selena Gomez. Why isn't Demi included here? Well I don't care because I don't like her too =) Lindsay Lohan is a great actress. What is she doing with her life? I agree that Anne Hathaway is forever classy. But I also saw her movie where she went nude, kinda inappropriate.

Miley Cyrus for me is not a good role model. She's shaping up to be another Britney Spears.

Emma Watson is like the Natalie Portman of the now.

    I'd also want to add:

    Emma Roberts (Julia Roberts' niece)

    Jojo (RnB singer)

Amanda Bynes (How can you forget her?)

    Hilary Duff

    Miranda Cosgrove (iCarly)

Among all these girls, my favorite is Dakota F. My least favorite is Lindsay.

Regarding Vanessa Hudgens. Ufff, sayang kasi fil-am pa naman sya.

I admire Dakota Fanning and Anne Hathaway for maintaining their integrity as serious, hard-working actresses. My cousin who used to work in Hollywood told me that Dakota is so admirable because she already has established a "sense of self" even at a young age. Being able to know yourself is the best secret to acting.

I'd also like to recommend Natalie Portman, well she was influential when I was a teen :) But since Anne is here... Hehe

By the way, why don't we have a LOCAL VERSION of this article? That would be INTERESTING!
