Woman on Top: Angel Locsin’s 5 Confidence-Boosting Secrets

The Kapamilya star talks about the things that help her take on difficult roles. By Jennifer Chan

Confidence is an attractive trait in any woman, and Angel Locsin, the new face for Avon’s latest perfume Slip Into, certainly has no shortage of it. The voluptuous and ever-so-gracious actress had no qualms about playing hostess during the launch of the said scent and even gamely interviewed members of the audience as if she were doing it her whole life. Then again, it has been eight years since she played Alwina in Mulawin, and the Angel we see today has since broken ground with more mature roles which involve drama and more recently, comedy.

This change in direction is certainly not unwelcome for the multi-awarded actress. According to Angel, “taking new roles, [my] experiences [in] life, they [help] me become a new and better person each day.”

And while Angel could have easily dominated primetime by sticking to the same characters she has portrayed in the past, the way she seeks out more challenging roles makes it clear that fame and fortune is not exactly what she’s after. “Ako lang naman kasi gusto ko 'yung makuha yung respeto ng kapwa katrabaho ko, hindi lang 'yung ibang tao na hindi naman talaga ako kilala 'kundi nakikita lang ako sa TV (I'm concerned with earning the respect of my fellow actors, and not just those who don't really know me and who just see me on TV),” she says.

It’s not every day that you hear an actress speak out so casually, and yet so assuredly, about her career. It takes a certain level of confidence to say those words, and to stick by them while the rest of the nation watches, but seeing Angel do it quite well makes the rest of us feel like we could do the same.

Want to be just as fearless as Angel? Check out five things that make her feel confident.
