Venus Raj and Andrei Felix Say They're Not Rushing into Marriage

Beauty queen Venus Raj and TV host Andrei Felix, who have been a couple for almost a year now, says that they’re both very happy in their relationship.

“Nagsimula kami, maganda yung foundation namin, yung base namin,” Andrei told PEP.ph. “Ito yung masasabi ko, personally, and tingin ko rin sa kanya, 'eto yung relationship ko na maganda yung simula, yung foundation, na nagsimula kami as very, very good friends. Alam namin yung strengths and weaknesses ng bawat isa. Pamilya ko at pamilya niya, okay kami (We started our relationship with a good foundation, a good base. Personally, and I think it’s the same thing for her, this is my only relationship that started out smoothly, with a good foundation, where we started as very, very good friends. We know each other’s strengths and weaknesses. We’re okay with each other’s families.).”

Despite their blooming love life, the couple says that though they have talked about marriage, they still have no plans of tying the knot anytime soon. “Siyempre nandun ‘yon,” Venus said. “Siyempre ayaw mo naman na boyfriend mo siya for the rest of your life. Gusto mo na darating at darating kayo do’n. Pero sa ngayon na wala pa kaming one year, siguro we’ll enjoy muna yung ganitong stage (Of course I think about it. You wouldn’t want him to remain your boyfriend for the rest of your life. You’d want to head there eventually. But since we haven’t reached a year yet, we’ll probably enjoy this stage first.).”

Andrei echoed Venus’ sentiment, saying that he’d also rather enjoy the present state of their relationship. “Tingin ko, enjoy-in lang talaga... Pero napag-uusapan naman talaga yung kasal. Imposibleng hindi namin napag-uusapan ‘yon. At one point, pumasok kami sa commitment na ito para pag-usapan din siyempre 'yung future… Pero you know, as much as possible, ngayon, enjoy the moment. (I think we should just enjoy our relationship… But we have talked about marriage. It’s impossible to not talk about it. At one point, we entered this commitment to talk about the future, of course… But, you know, as much as possible, we’re just enjoying the moment right now.).”

Despite their current lack of wedding plans, Andrei has assured Venus that he plans to be in her life for a long time. “Talagang sa ‘yo ako, kahit anong mangyari,” he told her. "Ang tanga ko na lang kung papakawalan ko pa ‘to (I’m really all yours, no matter what happens. I’m a fool if I’ll let go of her!)!”
