Upcoming: Mamma Mia

Jul 9, 2008 by FN's Shar Bareng

The Abba-inspired Mamma Mia, adapted from the West End musical of the same name, opens this week, and we must be as excited as you are. Combining Abba, Meryl Streep, and three gorgeous leading men in a sentence spells fabulous already, after all!

Mamma Mia tells the story of 21-year-old bride-to-be Sophie (Amanda Seyfried), who dreams of her long-lost father giving her away at her wedding. From her mother Donna's (Meryl Streep) diary, she learns that one of three men could possibly be her father, so she invites them to the wedding without telling her mother. Of course, when they arrive at the island, chaos and much dancing and singing ensue.

We won't be surprised if Meryl Streep gets nominated for an Oscar again this year for this film. In an interview with The Movie Guy.com, she said her role was physically demanding, and Mamma Mia itself is simply full of energy. "(It has got to be) a second childhood, non-stop fun," she gushes.

And even just for that, Mamma Mia is something we wouldn't dare miss for anything!

Mamma Mia opens nationwide on July 10.
