Tom Cruise Visits Daughter Suri in New York

The Hollywood star seemed glad to finally be able to spend some quality time with his daughter with Katie Holmes.

Tom Cruise went to New York City on Tuesday, July 17, to visit his daughter, Suri, for the first time since his divorce from actress Katie Holmes, to whom he was married for five years.

According to a report from People.com, the Hollywood star was seen carrying his six-year-old daughter while entering a hotel.

"Tom looked really happy," said an onlooker who had seen the father-daughter pair in New York.

Tom, who had learned of Katie's decision to separate from him while filming shooting the upcoming movie Oblivion in Iceland, had been in frequent communication with Suri through the divorce proceedings, which, People.com reports, concluded with an amicable settlement after less than two weeks. However, he has not seen his daughter in person since June.

When the divorce was settled, it was agreed that Suri would live in New York with Katie, but that Tom would be able to see her often.

"He's been dying to see her," shared a source close to Tom. "He'll be with her whenever he can."

Sources close to Tom and Katie had also revealed that they plan on ensuring that Suri won't be too affected by the tension between her parents during the inevitable times that they will meet up to hand her off to each other.

"They [Tom and Katie] both know they are going to have to make decisions together regarding Suri for many, many years," said the source. "And they know she loves both her parents."
