It spans three generations of lost love: the battle of sisters Virginia and Margaret Cruz for the affections of Joseph Montenegro; the failed romance of Marco, the son of Margaret and Joseph, and Emily, the daughter of a lowly plantation worker; and the rivalry of Marco's two sons, Daniel and Nathan, for the heart of the beautiful Katerina.
