Ruffa Gutierrez abruptly left her TV5 weekend talk show Paparazzi on June 23, saying that she felt disrespected and embarrassed by the show’s birthday surprise for her.
According to an article by PEP.ph, the actress and 1993 Miss World second runner-up, who turned 38 on June 24, voiced her displeasure through a series of tweets she posted after her show finished airing on Saturday.
She tweeted, "Hindi ako natuwa sa birthday presentation ng Paparazzi para sa akin. Wala kayong kwenta at wala kayong respeto. (I was not happy with Paparazzi's birthday presentation for me. You were worthless and disrespectful.)" She went on to tweet, "Binastos ako ng Paparazzi on my birthday. I'm so sorry but THE BUZZ (her former talk show on ABS-CBN) would never do this to me. EVER!"
Ruffa's anger stemmed from being asked a series of questions regarding the men who were linked to her in the past. That segment apparently made her feel gravely humiliated, especially since her loved ones were tuned in to her show that day.
"Hindi nyo man lang naisip na nanonood ang mga anak ko! (You didn't even think that my children might be watching!)" she exclaimed over one tweet. In another, she explained, "Lorin and Venice were watching Paparazzi earlier [because] they were excited to see my reaction on the handmade card/note they made for me."
Ruffa also declared that she would no longer be part of the talk show, tweeting, "I refuse to be part of trashy reporting that degrades people or shames others. I know God will provide work for me in other ways so I can take care of my daughters."
However, one of Ruffa's Paparazzi co-hosts, Mr. Fu, defended the show, claiming that there was nothing degrading about the questions asked of the actress.
In a separate interview with PEP.ph, Mr. Fu said, "For the record, wala akong binanggit na foul term doon sa bulong—yung binulong kong tanong kay Ms. Ruffa. Pang-apat na beses na namin yung ginagawa. It is really part of our show na naughty segment. (For the record, I didn't say anything foul in the question I asked Ruffa. It was the fourth time we did that. It is really part of the naughty segment of our show.)"
He went on to say that while this was usually reserved for guests, the staff and writers thought of putting Ruffa in the hot seat as part of her birthday show. He said, "Ako, I am very sorry to Ms. Ruffa that she got offended. Kasi, wala talaga kaming masamang intensiyon na sirain ang birthday niya. Hello, katrabaho namin siya! Siya ang star ng show. Hindi namin magagawa yun sa kanya—na asarin siya. (We really didn’t have any intention to ruin her birthday. Hello, we work with her! She’s the star of the show. We could never do that to her—to make her mad on purpose.)”
When asked about his reaction to Ruffa's decision to leave the show, he is quoted as saying, "Malungkot kami dahil sa naging desisyon niya. Pero wala naman kaming magagawa kung yun ang gusto niya talaga. Pero sana lang, kung aalis man siya, maging maayos pa rin ang samahan namin. Na walang bad blood. (Her decision saddened us. But we can’t do anything if that's what she wants. But if she's really leaving, I hope that our relationship will still be okay, with no bad blood [between us].)"

Perhaps she will settle down & not call people worthless if she is given her own show where she is all alone starring in all her glory. She and her family ought to have enough fans to keep such a show going.
